A Lament to the Eternal Sages

O! Lady Maylea, Rainbow Maiden of the Bloom
Where are the lovely days long past
before misty haze and shadow were cast?
Might they be beneath the flowing limbs
of the Tree of Trees and Her splendid Kin?
Are they forever gone, scrawled in our doom?

O! Lord Charune, Fleet Master of the Hunt
When will weary feet no longer tarry
upon roads they meet with the load we carry?
Shall Nintoba's kin pine southwards home
yet never again in that twisted forest roam?
Can we untangle the weavings hence spun?

O! Lady Lisaera, Silver Crone of the Chalice
Have we seen beauty fatefully cast
in shadow and machines, since rendered ash?
Does this atrocity make You deeply saddened
to witness city flourish and forest trodden?
Could we at the last surmount their malice?

Forsooth! when the heavens rain upon earth
Will we meet our fate donning remorse?
or could we greet it bearing grateful mirth
knowing we did more than stay the course!
