The curtains part on a grand stage of stygian marble, heralding the start of
the performance of 'Wyrden Flux'.
Scene 1: The stage is doused in perfect darkness.
Druken's costume: Robes of black enshroud Druken's body.
BACKSTAGE EMOTE: Druken Inseira brings the smudge stick against his chest and
closes his eyes.
STAGE EFFECT: A vibrant purple light flares at the base of the campfire,
forcing the flames to conform to the light's hue. Druken's voice echoes through
the crackling as he chants ceremoniously.
STAGE EFFECT: The whispering of Druken's words resonates through the stage,
"May the world see what we see. Show them what must be shown."
BACKSTAGE EMOTE: Druken Inseira holds the smudge stick against the flames and,
in one smooth gesture, flings the stick to the ground.
STAGE EFFECT: The end of the smudge stick sparkles to life with a glowing
ember, releasing a cloud of violet smoke into the air. For minutes, the stick
burns, filling the stage with its living smoke that twists high into the sky and
billows around Druken's kneeling form.
SCENE CHANGE: The stage is filled with purple smoke that forms an image at
center stage, emanating from a roaring campfire.
PROP: campfire: The campfire licks at the purple incense that rises from it,
casting a deep violet light across the stage.
STAGE EFFECT: Druken's eyes open hazily now that the smoke has nearly
completely obscured the campfire's light. With a snap of his fingers, the
haziness of the incense whirls with the control of a cyclone, encircling
Druken's body until he fades from view completely.
STAGE EFFECT: The smoke coalesces into an image of a forest with dense canopies
and thriving vines, strung from tree trunk to tree trunk like a misshapen
spider's web. A dense mist filters through the air, hugging the low-growing
foliage and masking the forest's floor from view. The image shifts abruptly,
displaying the growth of more trees and peculiar, long-stemmed thorny roses that
spring up haphazardly with an intelligence all their own.
STAGE EFFECT: At the center of the stage grows an enormous tree that
overshadows the rest. Its reaching limbs and gnarled trunk threaten to overtake
the stage in its entirety, and a shadowy figure lurks near its thick exposed
roots.
STAGE EFFECT: A chorus of matured voices cant, "Nothing matters but Glomdoring.
Glory be to Glomdoring."
STAGE EFFECT: The image is obscured momentarily, and the swirling eddies of
disturbed smoke allow a glimpse of a shadowy musician carrying a drum walk
silently across the stage. As he stops moving, the image of the forest returns
with more figures gathered around the gnarled tree. One of them raises a fisted
hand into the air and the others form a circle around him, hands held tightly.
They move in a circle around the tree, dancing in perfect unison until an
incorporeal black energy ripples through their joined bodies and up the trunk of
the massive tree.
STAGE EFFECT: The scene follows the rising energy until the smoky image depicts
a bird's eye view of the twisted forest. The shadowy energy stretches across the
canopies, clawing its way through the leaves and the branches until it has
expanded across the entire reach of the Glomdoring. At once, a new, violet
substance mingles with the shadows, forming visible figures in the dark blanket.
They rise from
the trees and scatter through the air on powerful wings, covering the skies
with their mysterious beauty.
STAGE EFFECT: A subtle rhythm begins as the image follows a group of the winged
creatures across rivers and streams. Everywhere the creatures go, the
surrounding plantlife leaps to life with a vibrant purple energy, changing their
shape into more writhing things. A bush of roses becomes a thick, gnarled
expanse of thorns and black petals; a slender oak becomes a twisted wyrden
sapling with thick, sharp leaves. At the touch of one of the elegant creatures,
an entire lake
becomes a whirling sea of changed creatures and darkly-coloured lotus flowers.
Musician's costume: A solid robe of black garbs the musician. It's
loosely-fitting enough to allow for a lot of movement, but enshrouds him
completely.
BACKSTAGE EMOTE: An enshrouded musician continues to beat the drums, swiftly
matching the image's rampant conquering of the Basin of Life.
BACKSTAGE EMOTE: An enshrouded musician beats one last rapid rhythm reminiscent
of a beating heart before it bursts and then halts it altogether with a single
monumental crash.
STAGE EFFECT: The swirling vision begins to dim and the campfire's flames start
to sputter weakly. Druken's form reappears behind it, adding more logs to the
flame. Like before, he reaches into his pockets and produces the herbs required
to make a green smudge stick, which he does so with a similar grace. He closes
his eyes and holds it against his chest.
SCENE CHANGE: The stage is filled with green smoke that forms an image at
center stage, emanating from a roaring campfire.
PROP: campfire2: The campfire licks at the green incense that rises from it,
casting a deep emerald light across the stage.
STAGE EFFECT: Druken flips the smudge stick into the campfire and takes a step
back, allowing himself to be engulfed by the shadows. An emerald light flares
through the fire as an earth-toned smoke begins to engulf the stage.
STAGE EFFECT: Druken's words whisper through the crackling fire, "Show them
what must not happen."
STAGE EFFECT: An image of a brighter forest dominates the swirling smoke,
coalescing instantly into the shape of a beautiful grove dominated by a series
of arranged flowers and a massive tree. The tree's trunk expands to cover most
of the clearing, but leaves room enough for a collection of smaller versions of
itself to grow steadily alongside it. A shapely dryad stands protectively
nearby, smiling and waving to figures in the distance.
STAGE EFFECT: Graceless and hurried, a figure rushes into the scene on frenzied
wings, waving frantically toward the sky. Her expression is pained and the light
that glimmers around her heralds the arrival of more frantic figures, all
gesticulating wildly. The dryad lowers her head and sighs, allowing the sound to
fall through the vision and across the stage. The dryad's sigh becomes the
singing of a sad lyre, playing low, strong notes to accompany the unfolding
story.
BACKSTAGE EMOTE: An enshrouded musician plays the lyre gently and issues its
morose notes into the audience.
STAGE EFFECT: The scene changes abruptly into an image of the skies where two
glowing figures stare angrily at something in the distance. One, a centaur, nods
curtly to the other, a glowing maiden, and they both disappear in a flurry of
sparkling lights. An image of dark figures clamoring across the treetops comes
into view, black and dark against the forest's brilliant greens.
STAGE EFFECT: Without subtlety, the vision becomes a conflagration of raging
fires that leap up against the dark, dancing figures. The lyre cries out with
the burning image, mimicking the pain they feel as they fall to the forest
floor. Figures clad in white and light greens, dancing in a circle similarly to
the other coven, cast an incredible ethereal power into the sky that blazes
through the firmament.
STAGE EFFECT: The image follows the ethereal light as it minimizes the movement
of the shadowy figures. Where it touches them, they fall into the flames,
halting their progress toward the massive tree. The glowing maiden returns to
her perch within the skies, watching the scene unfold. Her gaze falls upon the
forest to the south and narrow with rage. Using her entire body, she flings a
vicious bolt of energy into the outward-moving ethereal light, sending it
cascading across the forest.
BACKSTAGE EMOTE: Druken Inseira appears within the center of the image and
throws another purple stick into the flames. The billowing smoke rises around
him, both hiding him from sight and mingling with the pre-existing incense.
STAGE EFFECT: The smoke swirls violently together, creating a roaring cyclone
that engulfs the stage. An image forms in the center of it that depicts a forest
ablaze; dying creatures cry out in agony, given voice by the lyre's sad melody.
STAGE EFFECT: A minor note forces the cyclone to expand, showing the image in
more detail. The glowing maiden appears amidst the chaos, crying out for help.
Using her powers, she lifts the fires from the trees and hurls them into the
skies to only rain them down upon more of the forest.
STAGE EFFECT: The cyclone vibrates abruptly and returns the image to the
gnarled forest where shadowy figures run into and out of the scene, each
stoic-faced and rigid with controlled tension. The lyre screams the voice of one
of the figures as it gestures sharply to the sky, causing the canopies to cling
together like interlocking hands. Another set of figures raise a barrier along
the forest's trunks, keeping out the clawing flames.
STAGE EFFECT: The vision focuses on the center of the chaos where Druken
stands, kneeling amid the running shadows with a tear falling from his right
eye. The lyre stops playing and the cyclone settles into the vision of the green
forest being reduced to ash.
STAGE EFFECT: As the incense clears, the image shows a final glimpse of the
shadowy figures coming together with their heads bowed as a black smoke rises in
the north.
BACKSTAGE EMOTE: Druken Inseira stamps out what remains of the campfire and
returns the stage to perfect darkness.
BACKSTAGE SAY: Druken Inseira says, "This is what will happen. It does not have
to."
STAGE EFFECT: A smattering of embers flicker from the campfire and the hint of
incense still clings to its stuttering coals.
BACKSTAGE EMOTE: An enshrouded musician drums out a refrain of the Glomdoring's
rhythm, slowing it down until it's slower than a beating heart. Finally, he
beats it hard once and stops, leaving the stage.
The curtains draw to a close on a grand stage of stygian marble, signaling the
conclusion of the performance of 'Wyrden Flux'.
