Queen of the Night by Marina
Merit for March 2010
She stares with hardened grace
Queen of darkness, saving face
Though daggers gleam and eyes watch
Slitted and bloody with dress blotched
Angered with times yet unseen
And history in make believe
Still, she stands stronger more
Not swaying nor betraying form
Hungry hands claw the ground
While savage lips and echoes abound
Even in the midst of woeful song
Still, she rises and moves on
Those who claim the light
Shout "Heretic!" as they fight
But her stance remains sure
With mind in battles before
They slake their thirst upon her brow
Still, she will not bow
They scream their rage upon the wind
Still, she does not give in
And those who claim the sullen moon
Crash against her all too soon
"Whore!" they cry beneath the dawn
Thinking they've won but are wrong
She stands against the moving tide
but slitted eyes
Standing still amongst the eve
She whispers, "You will not have me."
