Remind Them, Young Seren by Tredian

Merit for December 2010

A Seren so little, Basin he observed
By greed and the Taint, faith to Nature was obscured
A tiny tear rolled down his innocent face
Weeping for hist'ry that was truly erased

Forgotten was Nature, forgotten was She
Who once held in Her arms, all things with much glee
So few do remember, so few now obey
The Cycles forever, forever must stay.

But hope must not die, nor Flame should be gone
Have faith, little Seren, to vill'ges do run
Remind them again, to them always share
The truth once so famous, but now is so rare

Sway them, dear Seren, earn all their trust
So to you they would listen, not to power nor lust
The Gods have blessed us with negotiable things
For us to make bonds with, as hardest as rings

Know them first Seeker, and know everything
Take a place in their hearts, that forever will ring
And that they'll remember, how it did feel
To be near one who's marked with the Grace Moonhart's seal

Learn the ways of the vill'gers, of the good and the bad
Of the greedy and the brave, of the sad and the glad
Those who look down at others, as if they were high.
The sensuous and the friendly, those who would just sigh

Be one with them Seren, let your soul make its home
Yourself to the village, as to the Basin the gnomes
Praise its warriors, tease the greedy, maybe flirt here and there
Ask help from the friendly, or maybe gossip someone bare

Visit them always, your time be for them
Salvation you bring them, like water to the stem
Nourish their hearts back, back from all lies they've heard
Even if you, Seren, by that time's grown a beard

Until time shall come, when villages again need
A new place to rely on, who's laws they will heed
Let your heart fill with compassion and resolve
To save them from all that'd devour like wolves

And when you're successful, your joy is complete
You go home to ponder, but maybe after that fete...
******
Efforts to visit from night to day
Efforts that truly received their pay
In villages roam on, while there, make a life
With purpose to free from deception and strife

Of enemies, friends, of the false and the true
Through skies that are stormy, 'neath skies that are blue
Rebuking, reminding, retelling the Ode
Let genuine awe fill them, with stories retold

You know them, great Seren, and in them you are known
So make sure you do reap, all the seeds you have sown
But the path does not end with a loyalty sworn
Make your promises kept, or be looked on with scorn
******
It's time for a leave, you will see them again
Trusting that you both, in each other will depend.
