Strength of a furrikin by Arath

Strength of a furrikin

Once you could get up, and look right in the mirror.
Grinning at the image of one who is a victor.
But now all I can see is the image of my terror.
I look at myself and all I can see is an error.

I used to think that strength is all that matters.
That talk of peace and love was only for the chatters.
So why do I see it as more than only natters.
When those who speak it are mere ranters.

Strength is the reason, strength is the way.
Cause when you're tiny you never get a say.
A piece to keep, or to send away.
Cause it's power that has the final sway.

Love or wit won't matter. That does only power.
None will ever listen if you never tower.
If you cannot seize it won't matter if you're smarter.
All you will be good for is to act like someone's garter.

The strength of mine is the strength to ward.
I'm the protector and the guard.
So none else is fated as just another shard.
A pawn in the paws of a big coward.
