Just One Pixie by Tredian

Runner Up for December 2012

"Just one pixie?" No need I see
"Please get her back, do hear my plea."
I said, "The Flame is shining bright!"
But she whispered something I could not fight..

It bothered me throughout that night
That night when Moon had shed her light

She gives a leaf
I search the trees
With hope to find
Some sign to lead me
To where that pixie
Just might be

Perhaps a flutter...
A giggle..
A glimmer
of dust.

"Just one pixie"
How hard could it be?

Northwards, Eastwards, a sparkle I see!
There by the Lake!
Just the water silv'ry...

A giggle,
A laugh!
And the stomping of hooves?
Poloma's children..
Not a pixie I see..

There! With Caladwen, some flutt'ring wing!
Some wings that also cough and sing..

Southwest...sparkle..flutter..
Silver...fireflies...glimmer

Just one pixie...
how hard could it be...

The leaf is starting to wither
My legs are getting tired
Miakoda, I'm so sorry
But this pixie I can't find

But perhaps there is one place to see
That place where pixie just might be..

Silver Falls like hair of Moon that flows
Beside the glowing tow'r
Moondust gather near the river dancing
Silver, quiet shine..

Gentle, flowing river..
Falling motes of silver..
Giggles by a tree near..
Winds of night that murmur...

Giggles..

A flutter, a sprint!
Aha!!
Escaped!
She's fast, I'm faster!

The sounds that filled the air that night
Was the giggling of a pixie escaping from sight
And the sound of my grumbling..
Turned to chuckling that's light

A flutter!
A chase!
And then I brought to her face
Leaf of Moonhart, ha!
That ends the chase

"Uhm, could you take me
to the Flame of Glinshari?"

And there by the Flame of Glinshari
A most beautiful thing did I see

A flutter
A giggle
A glimmer
of dust
Then light!
That's bright
so blue
and true

Protective,
Wild
Nostalgic...

I see a dark day
A dead centaur child lay
Poloma shedding tears
Black creature spreading fear
Desperation for a pixie
Oh, where could she be?
Near the Flame, watching
As if..she was waiting
To give a glimmer
of dust..
of hope..
to hearts that shudder..

Dreamily hearing Miakoda's thanking
I went to the place where Moon's light was flowing
To think about the things that night
That night when Moon had shed her light

I said, "The Flame is shining bright!"
But she whispered something I could not fight..

"Remember child, by this pixie one
The hope her faerie dust had spun
When time comes Night clothes all you see
Remember beside you are pixies free.

Just one pixie, to aid your mem'ry
Let your story be guided by lessons from history
To live brightly is not to have no fear
It is having hope amidst the tears."
