A Season of Colours by Hiriako

Merit for September 2013

The somnolent chill of Autumn's first frost

Graces crimson canopy with crystalline death

              pumpkin

                           scarlet

                                     gold

Hued cacophony spilling from above; revealing

Gnarled hands stark against azure sky

Fading, the new carpet flushes brown

Uniformity, peace, the passage of life

The turn of seasons, Winter's gate approaches

As an argent kiss blankets the ground;

And fills the air with glittering specks

              alabaster

                           platinum

                                         ivory

Brilliant day succumbs to silvery night, Moon shine

Rival to Father Sun above snowkiss'd land

Blustery gale passes the forest; a weave

Through slumbering tree and totem watchful

Faces glinting by grace of feathery snow; time

Turning rime to tears upon wooden visages

Mourning for Winter's thievery

              emerald

                          cerulean

                                        cherry

A budding promise in the struggle of jade

To pierce the hoary soil; To restore the tinge

Of a world slumbering in peaceful repose

Wintertide solitude opening her gate again

To bring the cheerful bloom of Spring

As final tears fade, spent anew for joy.
