Of Phoenix Grand by Alary
Runner Up for June 2014
Upon a night I did once Dream,
Of colours, smells and sounds,
To me came a mighty gleam,
It set alight the very grounds.
Much to my surprise and awe,
A great bird emerged,
With a vibrant caw,
Upward this bird surged.
Beak open and talons spread wide,
She flew toward the sky,
Epoch reached, she began to glide,
Past all creation did she fly.
Wings aloft and spread out,
She flew above all in sight,
Her very visage the enemy of doubt,
A presence so calm she set all to right.
And then she stopped above my head,
Glancing down with eyes of black,
Respect in them went unsaid,
And respect is what I gave back.
A phoenix so grand,
A symbol of rebirth,
Something across this land,
She of great and mighty worth.
