Though winter may appear so careless and cruel
A warmth may be found that burns without fuel
For despite of the frost that takes life away
There are things that endure on calmly and stay
Consider the flower which blooms amidst the chill
Which no amount of coldness can ever kill
Consider love which knows no seasons
But shines on brightly for all the right reasons
It is not the winter that we must fear
Because soon again spring will be here
Instead hold on steady and trust
What lays in dreaming will reawaken with lust
And until that time do not forget
Much joy in winter is to be had
Because it is filled with beauty and grace
Which nothing else may soon replace
Look upon the snow and smile
Knowing that for the coming while
The forest will glitter with the sparkle of a gem
Covering all from top to stem
And as the old passes before the new takes its place
enjoy the season's frosty embrace
And keep within your heart the flame burning bright
so that in dark times there will be always light
