'Neath the winter moon by Renion

Runner Up for January 2015

They come,

tiny glitt'ring diamonds that bejewel the verdant green,

the bracing chill of the wind that whips across the Inner Sea,

the silence that falls o'er the skies after the crashing of the storm,

the cloying taste of resin and earth that sticks to the tongue.

We are the protectors of the green,

the tenders of the trees, the singers of praises,

the leaders and the merchants and the soldiers,

we are like the snow, each flake beautiful and unique,

but bent all to a single purpose.

Beware the winter's cold,

and seek shelter from the storm when the first snows fall,

lest you find yourself freezing beneath Her moon,

with nothing but those diamonds for company,

for we are Serenwilde, we are Siar'luin, and we come.
