CHAJOMI AND THE UNSEEN FIELD

Aslaran detective Chajomi arrived on the scene and walked over to the body. The local department in charge of the murder was already gathered around. Chajomi looked down at the loboshigaru body, it having large deep cuts in the flesh. Most of the fur was shave off as well, no where to be found. One of the officers walked to Chajomi, shaking his hand in greeting before speaking, "He was a young loboshigaru named Hokne. From the looks of it, it seems his fur was shave before he was cut and killed. Although we can't find fur. We closed off the area the moment we go here, but the killer could already be gone. However, the weird part is the nobody sensed the murder. One of the people living here just found the body in the middle of the road."

Chajomi looked at the officer, puzzled in the final part of the statement, "No one? No screams even? Surely this couldn't have been done without someone at least seeing or hearing it."

The officer shook his head and responded with a 'no' before going off to finish other things.

As Chajomi is looking around the murder scene and near by houses, asking if anyone saw anything. The story at each house within view of the body tells the same story - no one saw a thing. The body just appeared. As Chajomi returns to the center of crime screen, a piercing scream reverberates throughout the village. Running to the source, the officers and Chajomi find a young human child on the ground, crying over a pair of bodies that match the same wounds as Hokene. Glancing around quickly, Chajomi tries to see the murder as the officers search the nearby houses, finding nothing as before. The murder killed again and went back to hiding within the village.

"The killer has to be here. The village is filled monoliths. They can't get away," the head officer barked at the others before walking over to Chajomi. "How do you think he is doing it?"

"I don't know. Maybe a piece of Hallifaxian technology?" Chajomi spoke with a shrug as he glanced down at the bodies. "Another two loboshigaru."

After a few minutes of talking with people, the detective and officers learn the two new bodies were of sisters Meru and Nikta. They also learned that there was another loboshigaru in the village by the name of Laneleke. Quickly, Chajomi with a few officers made their way to his house to find that he was still alive. Finding no signs of the murder, it seemed like they had got to the next target before the murder did. Somewhat happy with finding a potential victim still alive, but still a bit upset that the killer was still in the village somewhere, Chajomi makes his way to the front, standing on the patio and look at the village, watching the officers comb through the place looking for clues.

A small female furrikin walked up to Chajomi and pulled on his pant leg. Looking down, Chajomi gives the furrikin a serious look, "Yes? Is there something you need?"

"I think I know who killed these loboshigaru." said the furrikin meekly.

The group of officers quickly turn around and stare at the small furrikin as she said those words. Chajomi quickly lifted her up and placed her on the ledge of a patio railing. "Tell us now! Who did it? How do even know?" Chajomi spoke with a raising tone with a bit of anger in the back of the voice.

"My name is Narimi. And I think it was my brother, Sompik. I don't why he did it. but I think I know how." Narimi spoke softly as she started. "He recently was working on project to expand the shrouding to work in the day and completely hide the person including from being heard and those with their thirdeye open. He was making the prefect stealth ability."

Chajomi just blinked as he heard the words. "If we can't see him. How do we find him?"

"You may not be able to see or hear him, but you can still attack and touch him."

The ranking officer on the scene gave the authorization to use any force necessity and ordered all the houses to be checked. Chajomi had one officer watch over Narimi as he went to help check the houses, starting with the home of Narimi and her brother. Once he stepped in, he started to swing his wind wand around, firing low pulses to see if it hit anything. Upon entering the bedroom, a small flicker of magic shone and forced the detective to close his eyes from the brightness.

Once the light stopped, Chajomi opened his eyes to find that Sompik standing before him, an orb on the table and a sword in his hand. "Hello, Detective. I hope that you are enjoyed yourself in this little murder." Before Chajomi could answer, the furrikin grabbed the orbed and placed it at his belt before lurging at the detective, slashing his sword into the leg of the aslaran. Chajomi yelled as the sword dug into his skin, before acting with his own attack.

With a wind wand in hand, Chajomi fired it at Sompik. The tiny furrikin was quickly blown away and slammed into a wall. The cloaking orb flew from his grasp and smashed on the ground, shattering into pieces. With a bright flash of magic, the cloaking power faded and Chajomi and Sompik were seen once more. All the officers pointed their weapons at the murderer as they rushed into the building. They bound Sompik's hands behind his back and boxed up the shards of the orb to be processed.

Detective Chajomi took Sompik to the edge of the city, telling the suspect to stand still. Calling forth icewalls around the location to prevent the furrikin from leaving, Chajomi leans against one of the walls and questions Sompik until he can be properly taken to a holding cell.

"Why did you do it, Sompik?" Chajomi questions.

"Because loboshigaru are scum upon the Basin. I was doing this village a favour by removing all those with fur that are not furrikin" retorted the small male.

"And what about me? Am I scum of the Basin as well for having fur? What about the Tae'dae?" Chajomi said, the hint of anger raising in his voice as he listened to the answer.

"You Aslaran are just over sized cats. Lucky your race doesn't live here. Although you do make nice rugs. As for the Ta-" Sompik smirks as he speaks, being stop mid sentence.

The other officers quickly bring down one of the icewalls after hearing a loud sound echoing from within. As the wall melts away, they find Chajomi pointing a wand at Sompik who has new bruises on his face.

"What are you doing, Chajomi. You can't just injure the suspect like this!" one officer protests.

Chajomi glares at furrikin, lowering his weapon as he answers, "The racist bastard thought he was helping the village."

"Don't worry. He is going to be found guilty of these crimes and be punished." replied the officer.

Sompik grins to himself as he teleported away to jail cell where he isn't going to be escaping from.

It was a few months of uneventful cases that involved stolen goods that ended up just being misplaced. Chajomi enjoyed the times that he was used more than a glorified tracker. the detective knew he would get the cases he enjoyed if he just waited.

Once his waiting did end, he hurried to the crime scene that happen to be the same village that Sompik lived and murdered in. A small pride of Aslarans were murdered and their bodies propped against the doors to their home.

While Sompik seemed to just murder his victims, this knew killer left messages with the bodies. Chajomi stared at this first message, 'Long live the furrikin. Down with the others'

This time, Chajomi knew who the killer was. Part of him feels stupid that he didn't see it before. That he let the killer just roam free for all these months while Sompik sat alone in prison. The cloaking device used helped cover the tracks of there being more than one. Who knows how many victims lay in unknown holes killed and no one the wiser to their deaths. That rumors of the number of non-furrikin races that had fur were lowering because people moved out in fear were quickly being dismissed as false and proper permits to find any other bodies were being drawn as the officers marched to where Narimi lived.

Once inside, Narimi sat a table smiling as the officers entered with weapons drawn. "Well. Seems you figured it out quickly enough." Narimi didn't move as she stared at a bowl on the table that held the shattered remains of the cloaking device. "Having the first device break did help us in fooling you. You never did suspect there was a second..."

"How many others are there?" shouted Chajomi at the furrikin.

"There are many who feel some races are better than others. How many bodies are hidden from the good people of this village? Well, that I'm sure you will just have to find out" Narimi spoke with a smirk.

Chajomi stopped wasting time on questions and moved closer to the killer and placed her in restraints and put Narimi under arrest, she joined her brother in jail while the broken shards of the cloaking device where destroyed to ensure no one would use it again.
