Sonnet for an Absent Mother by Nimhuire
Merit for November 2015
Once I, with Maiden's curiosity,
Followed your footsteps with clumsy tread
Dancing to moonsong and fae's gaiety
Along silver-shot paths where Mother lead
Crone's Wisdom taught beneath sacred trees
The secrets of Moon's darkest ways
Together sought what the silver pool sees
and then warmed our foes with moonfire's blaze
But you now dance by light of other flames
Rhythmless where you once trod Nature's beat
Turning amidst the shifting paradigms
Forsaking Winter's Court for desert heat.
Someday I hope your wand'ring feet will cease to stray
And you'll return to dance once more upon the three-fold way
