Song for Three Artists by Xeii

Merit for December 2016

*The author wishes to clarify that the poem was written prior to the Aesthete's return.

And so Dynara's thoughtful hands

Did form Her canvas, three great lands--

Aye, sea and soil 'neath glowing skies.

O'er them did three Divine preside,

Their beauteous art none e'er shall hide.

In Their memory verses rise.

Carakhan, Sculptor of Waves,

She shaped the life-giving seas,

Powerful, fierce as tempestuous waters--

Now calm and serene lies She.

A spirit of bold creation,

A leader among the Fourths.

The wave has hidden away the pearl;

Her silence we still mourn.

Maylea, Bloom of Serenity,

Our lands She purifies,

Wherever green unfolds, She placed

Beauty in our eyes.

Thinker of the Artists,

Who came clothed in mortal flesh,

Those of the flesh still seek You, yet

Your blooms are all that's left.

Isune, the Aesthete,

Who paints the dawn on wings so bright,

Then promises of rest She brings

When falls the deep twilight.

Her Sacrifice lives in our hearts,

Her great tenets upheld,

Though abhorred Soulless remain at bay,

Still in other lands She dwells.

Beloved Artists, tell us why--

Why do You Your faces hide?

Though time wears on as sure as tide

Comes in each day then turns out, twice,

The sea and soil and darkening skies

Await Your touch, and Your embrace

And long do they for Your loving gaze.

The same stands for Your faithful Shards;

We await You still, our hopes unmarred--

As also will this wistful bard.
