I've sat on this very beach, toes buried in the sand,

a countless number of times before, gazing into the skies above.

As I study the waves crashing against the shore,

I predict the changes of the tide almost down to the minute.

 

Here is where I watch the lights flickering on the horizon,

a promise from Him as he gazes out from the heavens.

I've come to embrace that eager desire to feel such closeness,

knowing He is here and that we watch this view together.

 

I witness the sun rise amidst clouds of endless white,

painted on a canvas of reds, oranges, yellows and pinks.

His presence manifested on the warm, pleasant breeze,

and the mist spraying into the open air, evaporating into nothingness.

 

I lean forward, savoring the kiss of truth in these few short seconds,

eyes closed to bask in the splendor and beauty of creation.

I'm left humbled by my own finite, minute existence,

yet feel as though He meant this scene for me alone.

 

The love for His devoted is felt in a whisper,

spread about in these sporadic, gentle moments.

And when the sun is perched firmly upon the horizon,

I open my eyes and go, biding my time as I await

His promise of a new dawn.
