Poetic Lines on Crow and Night by Eridani

Winner for July 2024

A talon taps a tune on meat-stripped bone,
Forgotten feather falls from ebon crown -
Crow's single eye sees all from darkwood throne,
The darkened forest spreading all around.

The setting sun, with fingers long and red,
Paints shadows in the twilight and the dark.
Crow's ragged form, a deeper, mirrored dread,
His shadow black as midnight shadows stark.

The fading light and Crow together dance,
A waltz of flesh and shade and wood and thorn.
Crow takes to wing in time with night's advance.
On pitch-black feathers, one more night is born.

Subliminal and melancholic glow
The spreading twilight greets the rising Crow!
