Of Fire and Shadow by Drastrath
Merit for August 2024
In the heart of the forge where embers glow,
Two souls entwine in a dance of fire and shadow.
One, a warrior with a blade’s gleaming edge,
The other, a tempest with a heart unpledged.
By day, the fire burns steady and bright,
A guardian of justice, a beacon of fire.
But as the dusk settles and the shadows creep,
A wilder force stirs from the depths of sleep.
The steel is tempered in discipline’s flame,
Yet within, a storm rages, untamed.
Two faces, one coin, cast in the same mold,
One seeks order, the other, uncontrolled.
They are the same, yet worlds apart,
Bound by fate, a fractured shard.
In battle, they are one, fierce and bold,
But within, a story of conflict unfolds.
For every calm, there is a storm,
For every shape, a shifting form.
They walk the line, neither whole nor split,
A life in balance, or the absence of it.
In the end, the fire and shadow are one,
Locked in a dance that’s never done.
A tale of two within one soul’s fight,
Of fire by day and shadow by night.
