The Weather.

We have recently reintroduced weather to Lusternia. Since it is a new
system, I would like to take some time to explain its effects.
As in real life, weather can be quite uncomfortably in the extremes. If
you wish to protect yourself from its effects, you should pay close
attention to your person. The effects of hot and cold weather can be
reduced by wearing warm or cool clothes, as appropriate. The new skills
in Tailoring will allow standard clothes to become 'summer' clothes,
with the option to pad them out and increase their ability to retain
warmth for 'winter' clothes. The most profound effect of high and low
temperature (and wind!) is decreased movement speed. We will shortly be
adding some information to Environment's Forecast ability that will show
you your current movement speed relative to your standard speed.
These are not the only effects that the weather can cause, however. High
temperatures mixed with storm clouds can cause thunderstorms which set
rooms ablaze. Heavy cloud cover with low temperature and little wind can
cause fog. Freezing temperatures and heavy precipitation can turn into
hailstones. High winds can prohibit flying entirely, or make it a
dangerous task. High temperatures will make you hungry more quickly.
Shamans have the sole ability to manipulate weather on a large scale.
They can affect whole weather systems to make it more temperate or more
extreme, as their whim dictates. This was one of most exciting things
for me to implement, and the main reason for my love and enjoyment of
this system.
With that said, let me summarise and say that, with weather being so
new, it will be under review for a while to ensure that everything is
going according to plan. I have recently made some changes, which
include the below.

o Environment's Forecast will now show how much your movement speed
is being affected by adverse weather.
o New ability in Discernment: FabricAppraisal!
o New ability in Tailoring: FabricAppraisal!
o New ability in Tailoring: Padding!
o New ability in Tailoring: Thermal!
o New ability in Forging: Padding!
o 'Clothing' now shows up as 'Warmth' on STATUS.
o Slightly tweaked the warmth levels for players.
o FYI, Athletics Weathering gives warmth when enabled.
o Athletics Weathering can now be disabled with WEATHERING RELAX.
o Aeromancy Windwalk now reduces the effect of high wind upon
movement.
o The negative effects of extreme weather have been reviewed and,
generally, tweaked to have a lesser impact.
o Furthermore, the effects of heat upon movement can be reduced by
having a lower warmth factor. The effects of cold upon movement
can be reduced by having a higher warmth factor. If you are
wearing the appropriate attire, you will generally notice very
little negative effect from heat.
o Racial fire susceptibility/tolerance will increase or decrease,
as appropriate, the effect of heat upon your movement.
o Racial cold susceptibility/tolerance will do the same, but with
cold weather.
