Announce News Post #1970

Preferred Width.

We are going to trial a new version of CONFIG WRAPWIDTH called CONFIG
PREFERREDWIDTH. This will try to output tables and similar displays in a
size that suits you. This should allow more information to be given
without taking up any extra lines of output. As it currently stands,
this feature does not work particularly well for clients with screens
that cannot be resized.

If we decide that this feature does not work very well, we may remove
it. Alternatively, if it appears to work very well, we may review the
necessity of having server-side wrapping since this task appears to be
handled quite satisfactorily by most clients these days. If you have any
arguments for why we absolutely should keep the CONFIG WRAPWIDTH
functionality, please feel free to message me.
