Investigations of the Enigma

Several days of relative quiet had passed since the events at Mount Dio,
and life had already returned to its usual intensity. Just when all
seemed normal and people were ready to forget about the Spire of
Dionamus, which now stood reconstructed upon the slopes of the newly
discovered mountain, the Elder God Elostian made his presence known to
the realm. Elostian requested that all who had knowledge to share
concerning recent events come to his temple. Individuals gathered, and
after information had been shared, Elostian revealed that he had found
traces of entropic forces upon the aetheral lines that connected the
intraplanar reality of the First World. Elostian explained that entropy
is a measure of degenerative energy, a substance that was the bane of
many of the works of the Elders. He feared that this energy was
spreading across Lusternia like a fine layer of dust, accumulating
slowly. The logical source of this energy was the newly restored Spire
of Dionamus.

Over the next month, Elostian began an investigation to discover how the
Spire of Dionamus could have been able release entropic forces that
resonated even unto the city and commune nexuses. During his research,
Elostian got into a heated debate with the Elder God Eventru, who argued
that the most likely cause of entropy would be energies from one of the
Soulless Gods. Elostian spent the rest of the month investigating
whether the energies held any traces of the Soulless God Zenos, who he
thought could have been capable of such a subtle intrusion of this
magnitude.

Not finding anything to confirm or deny this theory, Elostian called
another meeting, one that was attended not only by mortals, but also by
Raezon and Eventru. It wasn't long before this meeting broke down into
outright hostility, as the three gods failed to set aside their
differences. In the end, Elostian decided to test the Great Seals that
held Zenos as well as check on his icy prison. Eventru tried to dissuade
Elostian, but he rejected Eventru's admonishments as being the bullying
tactics of the defunct First Circle of Elders. Even the Elder God
Raezon, who normally found unconventional experiments intriguing,
questioned the wisdom of meddling with the prisons of the Soulless as
they were generally the exclusive province of the Creatrix herself.
Ignoring their advice, Elostian departed from the meeting, which left a
silence among those who remained, as they could do nothing but wait for
the inevitable. It wasn't long before the voice of Elostian was heard
once more, shouting a profanity, before his voice was abruptly silenced.
A single flash of bright twilight was the last sign of the Enigma, and
not even his cousins could sense his essence. Elostian could not be
found.

Thus, the relatively simple events of the last few months have taken a
vast turn for the dramatic, and all seem to have that fatal question on
their mind: what next?
