Flashes of pain and visions of unknown places interrupted the daily
lives of Morbo Gordian and Tulemrah Shevat, wounding them both mentally
and physically. Though Morbo feared that he had finally gone insane and
started hallucinating, Rilain, the wandering priest of the Architect,
knew the visions for what they were: garbled communications from the
Elder God Zvoltz. Calling the followers of Zvoltz together to strengthen
their bond to the god, he was able to receive verbal communication,
though it was obscured by static. At the same time, the followers of
Isune felt similar messages.
Soon, Morbo was able to interpret Rilain's poor translations into proper
instructions, leading the servants of the Architect to use the
phylacteries the god had bestowed upon them to seek the place Zvoltz
referred to as an anchor. However, it was Tulemrah who finally found the
hidden cavern upon Avechna's Peak, her phylactery summoning forth an
anchor in the form of a silver gate. Fearing trouble, Morbo summoned
others from the City of Hallifax before stepping through the gate and
into the City of Spires, the realm of the Architect.
There, within the Architect's Basilica, awaited Zvoltz and Isune who
were cut off from their mortal followers when the uncontained energy of
Zvoltz's realm set the Basilica adrift. Now, properly anchored by the
great power of the Peak, His realm has opened to those pilgrims who wish
to make the journey to a place below death, and beyond nature, near but
not quite touching life, dream, or beauty.
