Conclusion of Dreamgate (exploitation of dreamweaving bug shop robberies)

Apparently, two characters who abused the exploit to the dreamweaving
bug that allowed the robbing of shops decided not to accept our generous
offer to return the stolen goods whereby we would then look the other
way. This has caused us to spend our valuable resources in tracking down
the thefts. We are fairly certain these two characters are alts of each
other, though one claims it was his brother who uses the same IP who was
responsible. As the bug required two characters to work, apparently this
wayward brother 'stole' the honest player's password to use the
self-proclaimed innocent player's character to help steal from the
shops. Conveniently, the brother also gave his password to this innocent
person so the innocent character could pass stolen items to the 'guilty'
character moments after getting tipped off when we began interrogating a
third party. Alas for these 'brothers', since the administration wasn't
born yesterday, both these characters have been shrubbed for a very long
time.
In any event, shopowners will be having items returned to them this week
(it will take us time to sort through items because there are hundreds
of them).
When we ask you to rectify bug exploits, we are serious about it. When
we give you the time to rectify these exploits, you better take it. And
when we confront you on an exploit and lie, you will be treated much
more harshly than we might have otherwise.
