The grand chicken revolution has been progressing too slowly for Xuck,
the Strategic Chicken's taste. His comrades have been gnawing at the
pieces of his chess set rather than practising manoeuvres! So he
challenged the organisations of the Basin of Life to step forward and
contend for the Chess Board of Libertas. Gaudiguch showed up in numbers,
ready to defend the artefact currently in their possession, but few
others did.

Ultimately it was Xiran Stormcrow of Serenwilde who boldly challenged
Afrit Dahyu of Gaudiguch, even though she stood alone. With Afrit taking
the position of the Dark King, Pash Ryseni took on the role of a Knight
and Dys Mzithrei that of the Queen. Xiran, as the White King, rallied
her pieces and played strategically, providing cover for her position on
the board. Her White Bishop shocked all with a surprise defeat of the
Dark Queen Dys, who was ultimately avenged. The Dark King held off the
White Queen in a fiery battle not long after that and withdrew to plot
his further moves more carefully.

Eventually, the Dark King cornered the White King with the help of the
Dark Knight Pash. The battle raged for an entire round until the Dark
Knight stood victorious by sheer force of will to persevere. And so the
dark team, Gaudiguch, won the game and kept the Chess Board of Libertas.
Congratulations!

And yet, Xuck learnt many a strategy from watching them play. Was it
wise to help the revolution?
