Libraries and Critiquing

As specified in help critiquing, a critiqued book will be reviewed FOR
THE REASON STATED BY THE LIBRARIAN doing the critiquing. There was
recently a spate of critiques that gave the boilerplate reason of "not
being written by the original writer". As this was NOT a reason
specified in HELP CRITIQUING, those critiques were rejected.

Librarians ought to give some thought in their critiquing. More than one
reason may be given in the critique and more than one library may
critique the same book. Indeed, multiple critiques from different
libraries will probably give greater weight during the reviewing. The
more thoughtful, detailed and reasonable the critique, the more likely
it will be accepted. In other words, it is not just the book that is
being reviewed but also the critique. Cutting and pasting the same
critique over and over for different books rather than treating each
book individually is not well received.
