The Uniting of the Serenwilde

For many days, strange voices were heard upon the winds in the
Serenwilde: angry, distant voices that called up alarming memories of
hostile spirits of Serenwilde's past. A search was made for these
voices, but it was futile, as winds continued to blow through the
forest, bringing drenching rains and lightning.

Suspecting the voices to be those of ancestral spirits, the Seren called
upon the spirit of Chuchip, an ancient sage, for insight into the
meaning of these strange occurrences. Chuchip's prophecy did not dispel
their confusion, however, hinting only at a great outrage out of the
past.

Some days after Chuchip's prophecy, watchful spirits were discovered
wandering the forest, who fled at the sight or sound of any who
approached them - save Spiritsingers. The ancestral spirits rallied
around the songs of the Spiritsingers, and thus calmed, they accepted
offerings of moonhart nuts before congregating by the Alabaster Road,
solemnly waiting. The Seren then began to realize that against which
their ancestors so vehemently raged was the Alabaster Road, which had
long divided the forest in half - a highway blazed through the
Serenwilde in the earliest days of the Old Celestine Empire.

A heavy, refreshing rain soon swept over the Serenwilde, and in its wake
grew a number of emerald seed pods, which resisted the touch of all
except Hartstone druids. These pods were brought to the waiting spirits,
who planted and watered them by the road. Over many days, Serens managed
to coax the tender sprouts to grow new buds, but they did not grow
further, to the disappointment of their caretakers.

Soon, one of the spirits returned, seeking the "singers" and the
"planters" of the Serenwilde to use their songs and powers to encourage
the growth of the small vine sprouts - for unless the plants heard the
support of those who dwelt in that forest, they would not have the
strength to complete their task. After much debate and careful
contemplation, the song ritual was completed and performed before the
spirit and the sprouts, granting the small plants the strength to sprout
and grow.

Imbued with the hope of all the Serenwilde, the plants shot up and
stretched over the Alabaster Road, forming several living bridges that
connected the northern and southern halves of the forest, where the road
once intruded. Thus, with great joy, the Serenwilde was physically
united for the first time in centuries.

Their task done, the spirits returned to their rest among the grave
mounds, but not before granting the Spiritsingers a special gift for
their deep connection in song with the ancestors. Only time will tell
whether their voices and their anger will rise again to right ancient
wrongs upon the Serenwilde.

Penned by My hand on the 15th of Avechary, in the year 188 CE.
