Without warning, fires began erupting amongst the wyrden foliage of the
Glomdoring Forest. The fires were quickly extinguished by the forest's
residents at first, only affecting small portions of the forest. This
quickly changed, however, as an intense heat settled down upon the
Glomdoring during the day. The fires grew in size and intensity, flames
leaping back to life only seconds after being doused. For several days
the Glomdoring toiled to stave off the growing fires, knowing only a
moments rest when Mother Night embraced the land. The fires eventually
broke out on the ethereal reflection of Glomdoring as well, and the
ethereal plane shuddered with the screams of dying fae.
Several members of the Glomdoring traveled to the Manifestation of
Mother Night, some to seek the guidance of Ikrae, the Shadow Priestess
and some with suspicions of Nyoro, the Summer Solstice. Those suspicions
were confirmed in the coming days as great arcs of flame tore through
the Manifestation. Consumed by the presence, Nyoro confirmed what the
Glomdoring had feared: the cause of the fires was indeed the work of
Father Sun. In her crazed state, Nyoro called out to the spirit,
beckoning him into the Manifestation. Immediately, dozens of strange fae
materialized within, their luminescent bodies casting an unnatural light
across the ground.
For several more days the Glomdoring fought. These sun fae, the nimbuli,
coronuli and embaruli, had already managed to kill the Shadow Priestess,
Ikrae before she could reveal a means of driving them away. The commune
turned to Rowena Nightshade, who was able to craft a way of transforming
the bodies of these fae into tools to protect the Avatars of Night from
Sun's lust. With the Avatars protected, Glomdoring had won extra time to
formulate a strategy for expelling the unwanted fae from their forest.
After much searching, Rowena came across an ancient text detailing the
existence of an artifact that predated the Old Celestine Empire. This
strange artifact offered hope for Glomdoring, and they scoured the Basin
in search of it.
Once found, the sun fae were quickly trapped within the mirror, but this
prison could only hold such a fierce power for so long. The gathered
Shadowdancers, led by Rancoura, called upon the power of Mother Night.
Ethereal powers came to odds as the shadows tried to extinguish the
flames. Mother Night's pain echoed across the Basin as she finally
extinguished the last of her pursuers. Mother Night manifested before
the Glomdoring, battered and burned, for only a moment before descending
upon Avechna's Peak in response to an unknown presence. Within a
fulcrux, was a shadowy figure who held on to Night, healing her wounds.
The mysterious figure was revealed to be Nocht, the Silent, Awakener of
the Great Spirit Night.
Summoned by the pain of His creation, another Elder God has returned to
the First World.
