Trouble in Tolborolla

The cries of Miriollo Needles rose over the Basin on an otherwise
peaceful day in Roarkian. Startled and unhappy, she complained of
suffering stings and bites. Many individuals hastened to Tolborolla to
find the valley invaded by enraged mosquitoes of unusual size, and the
residents of Tolborolla much distressed and affrighted. Miriollo and
Wodelly Tumtum begged for help in finding the source of the nasty
insects.
Sarrasri Talnara noted the existence of some strange caves, recently
discovered in the valley. Her description of its filthy state and
disease-ridden inhabitants greatly alarmed Miriollo, who requested to be
taken to see these caves herself. It was soon agreed that the caves
could not be allowed to continue in such repulsive state.
A suggestion was soon put forward by Prisch Talnara: could not the caves
be cleaned? But who would take on such a task? Miriollo recollected a
former friend of hers of the name of Bavarro, and a group including
Sarrasri, Prisch, Serella L'Eternae and others departed in search of
this tae'dae.
He was soon discovered, cowering in a tiny cottage tucked away into the
Teeth over Tolborolla. Bavarro was not unwilling to take on the task; in
fact he was most eager to declare his superior cleaning skills. But
there was a problem: he was ridden with superstitions, hopping with fury
at the inauspicious invasion of his home by so many strangers. His
bemused visitors conferred, and eventually succeeded in drawing from
Bavarro some sort of explanation: if he was given sufficient talismans
to counteract the poor omens, he might be willing to step beyond his
threshold.
The help of the village elder, Hoopah Hopekeep, was swiftly sought. She
seemed unfazed by this strange request, and gladly instructed her
petitioners about the making of suitable lucky charms. The group fanned
out over Tolborolla, in search of the several peculiar objects requested
by Hoopah. With the help of Tyrni, Kaalak and others, the curiosities
were soon acquired, and Lehki Mes'ard turned over the final item, a
curious fan made of insect wings. Hoopah quickly assembled these objects
into a strange charm, instructing that it be given to Bavarro
immediately.
Bavarro was relieved and overjoyed to receive such a talisman, declaring
it a very powerful object indeed. He swiftly took up his new post,
cleaning the caves with admirable efficiency. Sarrasri, Serella, Asin
Dekoven and others then petitioned Hoopah for a new residence for
Bavarro within the valley, although their offers of help were graciously
swept aside. By the end of the Roarkian the task was complete: Bavarro
is now comfortably ensconced within the village, promising to keep the
caves clean as long as he feels sufficiently in luck.
