The sounds of crashing rocks echoed across the Basin in Vestian of 219,
amid the anxious cries of scholars and bards as they fled to avoid a
small avalanche. The commotion was soon revealed to have been
inadvertently caused by a small group of trill as they worked to clear
the long-disused passageway leading from the Northern Mountains up onto
Mount Clarramore.

The group were all servants from the nearby Clarramore Manor, and their
leader, Ester Hill, begged the gathering group to lend their aid. Miry
Gly, a cook at the Manor, had been tasked to mend the broken lift that
provided access to the plantations in the clouds above, and she was
struggling with the task with only an instruction book to help her.

Klia Praklin, Shuyin, Lisuarte, Kiaris Mes'ard and Krackenor d'Murani
were some of those who sped to the aid of the despairing cook, providing
materials for the mending of the lift while Klia contributed his
considerable knowledge of engineering. As the group worked, the lady of
the manor, Hyacinth Clarramore, appeared, and relentlessly pushed her
employee to finish the task quickly, as she was anxiously expecting
important guests. Miry was only further irritated by such treatment, and
as soon as the lift was mended she threw down her apron and stormed off,
determined to remain aloof from the manor until she was suitably paid
for her extra work.

Guests for the Clarramore party began to arrive, the first being the
glamorous Madame Sylvie of the Chateau d'Amour. Hyacinth and her husband
struggled to keep the guests entertained as Klia, Kiaris, Shuyin and
others worked to restore the household to harmony. Klia succeeded in
persuading the disgruntled Miry to return to her task as head of the
kitchen as the guests waited impatiently for the fine dinner they had
been promised. Eventually the dinner was provided by the chef Kiaris
Mes'ard, to the particular satisfaction of the hungry guest Yojimbo
Buntz. Soon afterwards the cook Miry was supplied with some of the
required materials for the dinner by the combined efforts of Klia and
Shuyin, the former having been graciously promoted to butler for his
devotion to the satisfaction of the guests.

However these achievements came too late. Bored and disappointed by the
lack of organisation at the manor, the guests gradually began to depart,
the Lord and Lady Estenborough being the last to leave. Hyacinth was
left to lament the disaster, retiring to her bedchamber to rest her
shattered nerves. Thus, the reintroduction of the Clarramore Estate to
the Basin was not the grand event its proprietors hoped, and it may be
years before it recovers from such a poor initial impression in the eyes
of its disappointed guests.
