Throughout the Trial of Ascension, the Seals that bound the Soulless
Gods continued to weaken, and the greatest of them all, Kethuru the
Almighty slowly began to break through His prison. With every new crack
of His prison, the insatiable hunger and twisted anticipation of Kethuru
grew, manifesting His will in hideous forms to mutilate those that would
dare stop His escape.

Avechna the Avenger formed the Staff of Ascension from the weakening
Seals as mortals from all across the Basin grouped together, each
supporting a mortal marked by a Seal. As Avechna threw the Staff of
Ascension into the Astral Plane, Kethuru the Almighty broke through all
but the last bits of His prison, raining relentless havoc down on the
mortals below. Heiress Sarrasri Talnara of Serenwilde, marked by the
Seal of Chaos took the Staff first, a fitting bearer to introduce the
events that would unfold.

Sarrasri quickly ran the staff to Lord Xiel Peulus of Serenwilde, marked
by the Seal of Nature, who was guarded by commune mates Ser Shuyin and
Ser Vathael Feyranti, marked by the Seal of Death. Serenwilde held onto
the Staff ever so briefly, however, before a group of Celestians
including Lady Talya Eli'Silar, Grand Conductor Mitch, Lord Nydekion
La'Saet, Lady Malicia La'Saet and Grandmaster Narsrim D'cente` raided
their location, led by Father Talkan La'Saet, and claimed the Staff for
Veyrzhul La'Saet of Celest, marked by the Seal of Harmony.

Veyrzhul and Xiel stayed in close competition for days; each receiving
valiant help from their supporters. As herds of Astral beasts rampaged
about and the crushing power of Kethuru Almighty wracked the Plane, the
Staff became increasingly hard for either to hold onto. Finally, a new
competitor, Spirit Warden Xenthos An'Ryshe of Glomdoring , marked by the
Seal of Life entered the fray by removing the Staff from the cycle.
Assisting Xenthos was Silferras Ysav'rai of Glomdoring, marked by the
Seal of Beauty, Talan Ysav'rai, and Servant Tynghall, along with a small
support from the city of Magnagora composed of Ceren Valtyros and
Romero. The staff was soon passed to Silferras when trouble arose, who
also eventually lost control of it, sending it back into the hands of
Serenwilde, who kept it from then on, despite one last noble attempt
from Veyrzhul and company.

Finally, Xiel completed the challenge, the Staff of Ascension exploding
in his hands. All mortals froze in shock and awe. As Xiel claimed the
fiery energy that was the Staff of Ascension, shockwaves of power shook
the very foundations of Lusternia. Consumed in flame, Lord Xiel shot
into the sky to face Kethuru, which merely resulted in him quickly
returning to Avechna the Avenger's side. The realms shuddered and shook
once more as the Soulless God, Kethuru the Almighty broke free of His
prison and charged for Avechna and Xiel in a feral rage. Alas, the
Soulless God's attempt was foiled and He was resealed into his prison.
The battle knocked Xiel from the sky, his life draining quickly to the
point of death, until Lord Xiel Peulus of Serenwilde, marked by the Seal
of Nature called in a desperate effort upon the energies of the Nine
Domoths and found new life.

Thus rose Viynain, True Ascendant! Viynain had pierced the Veil of
Nature and found life beyond, giving him place within the Domotheon
realms.
