Night Before Solstice

Twas the night before Solstice, when all through the land,
Adventurers were stirring, bromides in hand.
Waypoints were ready, shortcuts in mind,
In hope that Jolly Bundle would return with his kind.
But the gnomes and their leader were nowhere to be found,
Not a laugh, nor a cry, nor nary a sound.
But wait, what's this? The sugarplum fae?
Could they be the reason the gnomes didn't come play?
So hurry they did, to Crumkindivia fast,
To find Jolly Bundle and his gnomes at last!
But sleeping they were, from a jolly good meal,
And left for the adventurers to come forth and heal.
So they sought out the fae, so sugary and cute,
And were rewarded with a tiny fruit.
Bounty in hand, they returned to the gnomes,
Who suddenly awakened, and returned to their homes.
But before they departed, a gift they would leave,
A marionette curio piece for the adventurer to receive.
So to the last, they brought the tiny plums,
And devour them they did, even the crumbs!
But Jolly appeared, one final friend to awake,
So rushed, did the adventurers, for nothing did they brake.
And what did they find, before their very eyes?
An Elder so plump, hidden in a disguise.
This wasn't no gnome, they saw in their sights,
But Crumkane, the Lord of Epicurean Delights.

Penned by My hand on the 5th of Dioni, in the year 401 CE.
