A Meeting of Minds

As the invasion of the serpentine creatures continued to rise in
intensity, they began breaking out of the nexus worlds and onto the
prime plane. Once being released into the Basin of Life, they
immediately headed towards the Sea of Despair in vast swarms, leaving a
path of destruction in their wake. Once there, most of them vanished
within the dark waters. While the cities and communes bravely fought the
swarms, they could but only slow the tide of the invasion. Speculation
was running wild while remnants of an ancient prophesy were discovered,
heralding the end of everything.
Convinced that a solution could be found, Miska the Mistress of the
Forums asked the greatest minds in the Basin to come meet and work
together. Many answered her plea, including the Archmage Marinus from
the Arysian Isles, Indiau Eepex from the Mesa Complex in the Skarch
Desert, Valaza i'Xiia from the Presidio of the Damned, Etil'ck Arthar'rt
from the Arthar'rt Observatory, Charestu Thech from the dracnari nomad
camp, and the four zi'Prouep sisters Adushoc, Croobuk, Edathic and Fiik.
Such a diverse group was difficult to coordinate, as many arguments
broke out and egos clashed. Finally, it was decided that Miska would
lead these brilliant scientists to research the possibility of building
shields in the nexus worlds. They required hundreds and hundreds of the
creatures to dissect and examine to find out exactly what type of
resonance field would be needed to be raised to repel them from the
Aetherways.
As the invasions continued, the people of the Basin battled fiercely,
taking the bodies of the creatures to Miska as she learned many
techniques of autopsy. As the days wore on, their research bore fruit
and they discovered a technique to repel the creatures from the nexus
worlds.
Though costly, the communes and cities began the process to raise these
mighty constructs, which had beneficial side effects for their members
who traveled in the Aetherways. Thus, it appears that whatever
catastrophe was prophesied to occur has been diverted and life returns
to normal in Lusternia.
