My Final Choice by Exeryte

Merit for June 2006

I tumbled through
The Portal of Fate
Ready to pass through
Lusternia’s gate

I then realized
That a guild I must choose
The many choices
Left me meek and confused

Perhaps the Paladins
The noble guild of Celest
An alliance of warriors
By the Supernals, blessed

To spread the Light
Wherever they may roam
In a valiant, righteous effort
To protect their home

I considered the Serenguard
Skilled warriors of old
Who’ve protected the Wilde
For ages untold

A decision to follow
Either spirit’s path
And show the Basin
The truth of the Seren’s wrath

Possibly the Ur’Guard
Descended from Urlach
Ferociously proud in battle
And eager to attack

They had been the Shock Troops
By the Emperor led
To carry out his orders:
The Warriors of the Dead

The Ebonguard showed promise
Ready for any fight
Deeply in-tune with the spirits
And following Crow or Night

It is the long, difficult path
Completed by far and few
Yet every member knows
In Darkness, with Discipline, they Do

Maybe the Hartstone druids
Followers of White Hart
They pursue the very spirit
Which with they cannot part

Master druids of the woods
They know how to survive
Melding with the forest
And making it come alive

Then there was the Blacktalon
With they very Wyrd they meld
And above all for them
Crow’s teachings are held

To the rest of the Basin
They are determined to show
The true strength and glory
Of the Mighty Crow

The Aquamancers seemed sound
Celest’s brave mages
They’ve fought against the Taint
Throughout all the ages

The strive to pursue
The greatest element of all
To summon a flood
Or place an icewall

Possibly the Geomancers
Who destroy for all they’re worth
They build strong, fearful demesnes
To meld with the Tainted Earth

The power to create
A great and endless abyss
And further bond with the Earth
Which they so love to twist

I could walk with the Moondancers
And the grand Mother Moon
While living by the teachings
Of Lord Charune

To join hands in a
Coven of Moonlight
And bathe in the soothing spirit
Of Mother Moon’s might

I could become a Shadowdancer
And live outside of the day
They arrive during the eve of night
And begin to summon their fae

They work so hard to reveal
The secrets of Mother Night
And find shadowed solace in
Her truly dark insight

Or perhaps the holy Celestines
The priesthood of the Light
They live for truth and freedom;
What is just and right

I could travel to Celestia
The Light’s sacred, holy Plane
To pledge myself to the Supernals
And become the Taint’s bane

I thought about the Nihilists
Tied to the Plane of Nil
Who fight beside their demons
With a twisted lust to kill

They strive to protect the wealth
Which they do love to hoard
And enter their demonic Plane
To make pacts with a Demon Lord

I was flustered by the choices
Of each and every guild
Yet I knew that my Fate
Must eventually be fulfilled

I stood up straight and tall
And slowly cleared my voice
Then shouted to the Fates
My final, binding choice
