Precisely but isn't one as bad as the other? In actuality I would really think removing the potential for life worse than killing. You have taken away any chance of that thing having any experience with life and how the world is.
Stavon2004-10-27 15:43:48
Not eggs, Bau... they're unfertilized. Well, ya'd hope so, anyway.
On a side-note, Acquisitio is wonderful for picking up chickens. I just love the idea that I unconsciously pick up a chicken.

Heh! Someone got killed in Magnagora the other day and they had a white cat in their inventory and I scooped it up, that was rather amusing.
Stavon2004-10-27 15:51:29
White cats are from Celest. I've been eating them.
Unknown2004-10-27 15:52:42
Yeah! I know they are from Celest....it was just wandering around so I scooped it, slayed it and offered it *sagenod*
Gaetele2004-10-27 15:58:21
I voted Magnagora myself, because currently they are the most powerful city in number, organization, and power in general. Serenwilde has a lot of promise (I'm a citizen of Serenwilde myself, so I would know) but if they don't get their act together, they're doomed to failure. Celest I don't know too much about, but they seem to be doing an okay job at holding Magnagora off at a few corners and trying to take them in surprise. Magnagora is always a few steps ahead of them, and Serenwilde is poised to be a powerhouse.
Unknown2004-10-27 16:00:12
Someone mentioned it earlier and I agree....when Celest is organized, it makes for a frustrating day in Magnagora. I think that any one city has as much potential as any other...it's just all in the organization and motivation of the citizens to accomplish the tasks at hand.

QUOTE (Flow @ Oct 27 2004, 04:32 AM)
When the villages reset, Serenwilde had 1, Magnagora 1.
So we off and get Rockholm. Good, good.
Me: "What village next?"
Everyone: "We shouldn't be greedy, that's being like cities, we should consolidate what we have or we'll just lose it."
Me: " ."
Celest gets one, Magnagora the rest.

New Celest also won't go around and kill everything in a village. The advantage of being Magnagoran is that you can do basically whatever you want because you can just explain it by saying you're "evil," so running around and killing every NPC in a village is no problem, whereas in Celest we won't do that (at least for the non-undead villages)
Not to mention, Magnagora is pretty much guaranteed two villages.
It is just... easier to roleplay as an evil person, as there are many people who would rather go around slaughtering everyone (they even have MUD's dedicated to simple slaughter over and over, as you all know) instead of being the beneficiary and healer.
I'm really disappointed that I haven't met any manipulative evil people, or anything... it's all just KILL KILL KILL evil.
Nobody is really doing anything in my opinion, except trying to not get killed by Magnagora and thus we have some strange roleplay situation where Magnagora is killy people, Celest is like a little rabbit being chased by Magnagora, and Serenwilde is ... uhh... nothing at all?
So I think all THREE of the cities are weak. There!

What's interesting is that I've yet to meet anyone who's dedicated to simply going around slaughtering everyone, so perhaps you could point me to some of those sorts as I've yet to meet them.
It seems like none of you have really been paying much attention to the reasoning behind my(and other's) actions, and the things we say to explain. Ask Ethelon, he could provide some insight.
Stavon2004-10-27 16:05:14
Magnagora is Powerful because we now have waterbreathing enchantments.
I'll never forget that time when Celest was summoning village raiders underwater so they'd drown, and managed to snag the party leader. Of course, the whole raiding party followed. I was praying for salvation at the time so I missed the death-spam... But all of a sudden I started comforting a LOT of people as they lost levels.
See, that just doesn't happen anymore. *taps head* We're smart.

We are smart. The problem is, they manage to keep coming up with ways to make us smarter by inventing some way to get us that we have to adapt to.
andes2004-10-27 16:08:04
It seems obvious to me that Magnagora is the most powerful city right now. And cudos to them for their quick organization. It probably won't be long, however, until things start balancing out a bit more.
Unknown2004-10-27 16:13:05
Interesting point from Visaeris there. I'm hoping for some manipulative proper evil masterminds cropping up as he says because those sorts of people are interesting. In conflict to what he says though, I think it'a harder to roleplay an evil person - harder without slipping into the same old "kill anything". Sure you can just kill anything and be called evil. That's not exactly being evil, that's just being mindless. Like people from ANY city who go around slaying every npc in the newbie areas (and I know Celestines have done this too). Not much roleplaying required.
Actually I'd like to get some better roleplay in with some Magnagorans. Discuss some of our differences. Every time I've met a Magnagoran I've been fighting them. I'd like to have some actual roleplay with the 'enemy'.

I would like to say that anyone who would like to have any discussion over anything with Felemar in game, feel free. Knowledge is power and a power that I seek so, I am more than willing to lay down physical arms for a battle of wits or for a mere discussion.

To derail a bit, and slip off topic.. Eh, I donno that I should reveal this, but I guess I will.. If you want to talk to Visaeris and find out why he does what he does, no matter who you are, all you have to do is ask him. None of his feuds are personal, and they never have been. So if you want to actually interact with 'the enemy', feel free
Eldrich2004-10-27 16:23:19
Visaeris is converting. That is the first step.
Stavon2004-10-27 16:23:52
Workin' on it.
I like being sneaky. I'm frequently where I shouldn't be. I've already been chased out of Serenwilde and escorted out of Celestia. Now, if only I could work out a way to stop Tuek killing me between breaths I might have the time to be devious as well.
However... apart from Ghost and Dominate, the Nihilist skillset doesn't allow for much, deviosity. This is something you have to achieve through intense knowledge of other people and in-game politics. And most people just don't have those kind of hours to sink into it.
But seriously, Magnara is not 'evil'. Everyone keeps saying this, and I've mentioned it to others before, but if ya read the History Magnagora ain't evil. We're just a bunch of undead bullies. Culture of Death verse Culture of Life, as Daganev said. I think it was a very bad idea to include angels and demons. Or, at least, to call them angels and demons. It confuses people about how they should be role-playing.

First of all, Flow, if you or anyone else in the commune had the time or could pull away from the experience grind to defend more villages we would've taken more or at least tried. The reason Mag can support more villages is they dwarf our population. I think the general concensus of the 2 village decision was that we could hold two for a longer period of time than three. I do not know much about village timing and if it just happens every year or so, mind you, but that's where my decision came from. Second, if the commune would stop waiting for Gods to get back from far trips and do things, we could become just a little more organized as a commune, it's a start. Our minister in charge of shops is waiting for a Gods word where as the God is waiting for the minister to start going, for example. Our commune needs a good kick in the arse but we have potential, a lot of it.
Secondly, lets get away from this childish treehugger crap. I have seen insults thrown at our newbies with harsh words involving treehuggers. I get it, we live in a forest, ha ha...ha, yeah no.
Thirdly, My vote went to Magnagora for their sheer numbers. Hopefully when they bring in the other guilds the numbers will shift around evenly, but who knows, right?
Lastly, Visaeris is hardly as evil and trigger happy as some people I have seen in previous MUDs, IRE ones as well. He has his reasons and most people would react the same way to his situations if they had a good system/strength that he possesses. Cudos to Vis so far on his fighting, in time more people will be able to rise to that level and above, beta testing helped him have a head start =p hehe.
Good night,
Hayden Silverleaf, Hartstone Protector.

As I understand it, the Magnagoran power advantage came from having control of more villages for longer.
But I've seen a few Saplings around in my ghostly exploration. I think with a larger population, potion-bans on anyone who chops trees, and some pro-active labour Serenwilde could easily work up a massive power advantage over time.
