Speshul, shmeshul. Twenty-five thousand plus on the commodities alone for a garment that isn't even going to last you three RL months...
25k is piss in a bucket, if you'll pardon the langauge. The decay time is plenty if you consider how awesome greatrobes are.. Two proofs(fire/cold/magic/electric.. pick two), enchanting(to be like armour).. Yeah I'd say they're decent

I'd really love to know how you get oodles of gold, Visaeris.. I could sure use some myself. I need greatrobes, wands, rings, real clothes, and at least enough credits to get to staff in geomancy.. So I'm looking at what.. 200k? And killing cows and leading pilgrims to the peak is the most profitable thing for me yet.

He plays the Credit Market...least I think that's what he said.

Well then you can't have everything at once. But a lot of my money comes from bashing nowadays

I probably shouldn't mention that I got fire, cold and magic all on the same set of robes, right?
And I, at least, am way too busy to make gold IC, and have no money OOC to buy credits. So 25k may be like a puddle after a storm to you, but to some of us, it's a lot - especially when I often have to supply it all to make the robes in the first place.

Uhm, as we have no Imperian ways of making much gold with hunting, or maybe I just haven't tried the Astral but I doubt they drop much gold there, I think 25k for a robe is just crazy, the same goes for masterweapons and those big armours. Also not all people are highly skilled with their tradeskills and can barely make any money at all with it. So either these nice items are meant to be rare luxury items or the cost needs some tweaking.

The main source of the promblem seems to be comm ****** buying out all of the comms so us younger, non credit purchasing players are unable to use our skills. Perhaps cities and villages can set monthly restrictions on purchases by the individual and raise the rate at which comms are produced.

Thier fix kinda works, kinda doesn't... All it has really done, is take a trade that was profitable and kinda stall it out. I am kinda happy with the new setup, but in honosty, it isn't the great boon everyone seems to think. One it has bugged the jewelers skill list. A friend of mine, who was not yet high enough to get mastercut when this was implimented, didn't get it, or melt when she did reach that point, and still, even know, almsot trans, she still doesn't know how to melt down jewelry.
Add to this, you don't get mastercut till like half way thru fabled, or such. You have all these jewelers, still cutting one gem per comm till almost trans, and the market expects the price of gems to be rockbottom. If you aren't highly skilled, and you don't have the silver hammer of jeweler's bane, then this didn't help you at all. Here we have most of the jewelers not affected at all, and all the customers demanding a lower rate. Why didn't they just create a knife of wrist slitting for novice jewelers.
And since someone is going to say, that I am whining, I am trans, I do have the hammer. This is a grave injustice to the little guys.

Another thing, powerstones are almost impossible to sell, most just trade them off for enchantments, but thats a bit silly. Why not make it so that a powerstone has to be set into a ring or somesuch to be useable, after all, wouldn't a stone in a proper setting make alot more sense as a tapable source of power than a raw stone? Then when the stone is sucked dry, you take it to a jeweler, they melt it down, and remake it with a new stone. Just a thought, I currently have a pack full of powerstones, and noone is buying, and I really don't need any enchantments.

How would putting them in settings help them sell? I'd think the problem would be more that people don't need all that many powerstones. I've been doing my own health refills for a while now and my powerstone is still at over 90%. Unless you're doing a LOT of refills, you shouldn't need more than a few.

Great robes can be mended.
And they're cheaper now with the new designs.
If I'm -really- nice as a tailor, I can make one great robes design at 6700 gold (Though I generally mark up on comms that are rare, and charge a 50% commission on robes if I supply all. Sales are too rare to merely charge the 20% mark up on most clothing. And cloth is -rare-. Took almost 200 cloth to stock my shop, which knocked my stocks out.
However, now that I've established my trade, I'm doing better.
