Back to Common Grounds.

Vallon, having vague memories of being rather held-down in his own right as a youth, feels rather sympathetic for the Dwarves in this situation...on one hand, you have the fact that whoever uses them (unless they have both Dwarven cities, in which case the other two cities will kill just 'cuz) can never promise that they won't be harmed. If you look at it from an IC perspective, the Dwarves currently feel enslaved (or I imagine they would, being used so poorly in global politics). Nobody else sees this, or speaks up about it...just 'get them back so we have gems gogogokthx'.

The dwarves situation was the last straw with the commune. Eldrich is going to pursue the Gods to see if it is up to the guild in question if their members must be members of the commune/city that their guild "belongs to".

I can understand... kind of.

However, the fact that no one was "playing" the lead dwarves during the event made it impossible to even talk to the dwarves. And the fact that influence stopped working was -lame- considering that we, once again, couldn't talk to the dwarves.

I really hate stacked events.

I sorta thought the fact that things actually happened quickly from ingame events was pretty neat. But then again, I thought the chaos that happened after the Treaty postings was sweet.

First, Who says Influencing wasn't working?

Second.. To your question about guild and cities. You can quit your guild or city whenever you want without any loss in skills. Its just that many of your skills rely on your use of a certain power source. And generally thats based on your city, so if you don't mind sacrificing those skills, there is nothing to stop you.

Know what's funny? At the time, I asked several times if anyone had any objections, and invited anyone who wished to attend and participate. Many did, and no-one voiced a complaint. After we made it, ct was full of congratulations to me. As soon as Auskelis posts, however, it's all:

"I told you so!"
"We should never have made that treaty!"
"What were you thinking?!"

Nice backbone, peeps rolleyes.gif

Oh, and:

Me.
Daganev2004-10-28 10:21:39
what do you mean by not working? cause I was in a group that influenced quite a few dwarves.
Flow2004-10-28 10:25:33
Me too. We got 4 dwarves, and then it.. stopped working. For every Serenwilder.
Daganev2004-10-28 10:31:00
hmm, I don't know, but not 2 mintues before Celest got the last village I saw some person with a name that starts with Al influecing, I Know cuase I thought about killing them.
Flow2004-10-28 10:40:16
Yeah, we could still INFLUENCE WHOEVER WHATEVER, but it didn't do anything
Mordrin2004-10-28 10:46:02
I missed what happened with this, did the dwarves just post and then the villages were set back to unaligned?
Daganev2004-10-28 10:50:35
Dwarves posted, then shouted , then the villages Revolted. Then chaos insuned and all three groups went trying to influence some place. Hard to say what worked and what didn't when you don't know how many people kept changing allegiences of denizens and all that fun stuff.
Village loyalty is a complicated formula.
Mordrin2004-10-28 10:54:32
Ah, thanks. I've got to say it's pretty cool how the villages reacted. Makes the world feel that much more alive. Although, in character Mordrin isn't happy the Dwarves betrayed Magnagora. ^^
Bau2004-10-28 11:59:17
Heh, Bau was mortified when she read Auseklis' public post *wince* I was just sitting there smirking thinking... man, they (Serenwildens) never listen.

When I sit there influencing ONE mob for 3 bromide vials, and I'm influencing pretty much constantly except for running out to heal quickly, and no one else is touching this mob, then influencing is broken somehow.

It was working at the begining, but like everyone else said, it was as thought Someone flipped a giant switch.............

Edit: And the mob never switched alliances, by the way, the village went to Celest before I could even finish influencing.
Roark2004-10-28 12:40:31
I assure you that influence was not disabled for anyone. It was still possible for you to regain the two villages that your city/commune had angered. If it wasn't working for you then I bet Celest had taken the village already and it just hadn't been noticed.

So in the future, remember that the villagers also read the public news. Maybe they don't do that in other MUDs much, but they are more alive in Lusternia than those places. :)

To counter Mordrin's post, and I really am doing this from a me perspective and not Felemar, the Dwarves did turn on Magnagora......it's just like they said, since they had pledged their loyalty and resources to us, we pledged them protection and it seems like we went to an outside source to ensure that they were protected. Now, I can see how you might argue that, "We were going with the treaty to further ensure their protection thereby enhancing our agreed upon terms" but I wouldn't really think so.

Heh, Felemar. The reason they revolted was because they -weren't- included in the treaty. What you just wrote makes no sense. tongue.gif
Unknown2004-10-28 13:15:03
They revolted because there were arrangements made over their protection.....read the posts by both of the Dwarves.....I know that they were left out but they were infuririated that Magnagora was even attempting to make negotiations upon the protection of the Dwarves.

I think it was brilliant what happened. If this is an indication of how dynamic and active the world will be, I'm a life addict!

Means that there is more reminders and pressures to remember to RP in all aspects.

Good job to the brains behind it.
