I found most serenwilders to be achaean forestals, often with the same name, who call magnagorans mhaldorks. And even the ones that really try to change are so brainwashed they can't pronounce magnagorans, they can only say it as magnagorians. All that, plus human nature's inherited anti-evil way of thinking (luckily it's present in many people), makes it that most serenwilders will always lean towards "good"...untill there's forestals that actively choose to be evil or dark alligned.
This kind of reminds me of my Aetolian Magi. The Magi were supposedly a 'neutral guild', however everyone flipped the freak out out when I joined Bloodloch because all the Magi were 'good' or something.
Niara2004-10-29 21:27:36
But of course we will dictate alchemy prices, as much as Magnagora owns the Elemental Plane of Earth.
Silvenae2004-10-29 21:28:01
Right, well, I'm going to go ahead and clear this up for you Serenwilders. I didn't join the commune with the intention of getting the skills and leaving. I intended to stay. Until I realized a few things and suddenly Magnagora looked a lot more appealing. So I went back. Simple as that.
But, yeah, of course Serenwilde is going to learn towards New Celest. It's just like how Shallam and Eleusis both loved invading Mhaldor, and the only way Eleusians could find to justify doing so was "omg, Mhaldorians can exterminate, so they are a threat to nature!" All that's been said about how Serenwilde should behave is that Serenwilde distrusts/dislikes civilization because they blame civilization for the release of the Taint. If it's the Taint they don't like, fine. I can understand why they don't like Magnagora. But who released the Taint? ... Yeah. Not Magnagora.

The main reason why Serenwilde might lean more towards Celest is the very simple fact that the people from Celest
a) usually don't attack Serenwildes
B) don't taint
So alone these two reasons make it quite obvious. But leaning towards some side doesn't mean that treaties or whatever will come. Magnagora had it in its own hands but too many jerks found it funny to kill fae, taint forests, etc so it is only natural that we don't like them, though I still sell my herbs to Magnagora, just a few people won't get my herbs from me.

Celest released the Taint, there would be no Taint if it wasn't for Ladantine's ignorance, your whole arguement is invalid because of that. And Celestines don't raid Serenwilde because they have their hands full with Magnagora.
Niara2004-10-29 21:46:17
But none of the players released the taint. I don't make people responsible for things that did their ancestors. And your last reason, Silvanus, is highly questionable.
Unknown2004-10-29 21:47:22
Personally since I created Hayden I have grown to see how Serenwilders can have such a distaste for cities, obviously since we have grown up around games and tv shows revolving around good, light, god, holyness, etc all representing the side we fight for we would be drawn towards Celests skills and practices more so than Mags dark magic but any true Serenwilder and follower of one of its Divine wouldn't be caught dead in a city unless the situation was dire and even then it wouldn't be a pleasant experience. Now that I created the longest run on sentence ever all I have to say is this conversation is going to start dipping into what Serenwilders should and shouldn't do instead of the posts thread. If any "law" was passed banning the potions I make, you can be sure I will, quoting Vis, "Wipe ...... with the law". Don't get me started on us sharing shops with cities.....It is no ones place to limit a persons skills and usage that there of.

That is why most Celestians I speak to call Forestals - Treehuggers, grasslickers, and the like?
So, because Ladantine is not a player and an NPC, you don't blame Celest for it? That goes against everything Lusternia stands for, Celest is the one to blame for it because it was the government of Celest that approved of Project Cosmic Hope, that released the Taint. To assume that would be ignoring the history of Lusternia, and there'd be absolutely no RP because there is no history to RP off of.

To further prove my point:
I think most of you are capable at picking out what the important parts are in that.

The Taint is obviously evil, simply understood by how you speak, if not for the fact that the histories back it up as you so blatantly point out. Now, while they said they'd never trust us again, etc, you must look at basic facts of today: New Celest has understood they messed up and work daily to stop it. Magnagora harnesses the Taint for their own means, when many will well agree it's bad. Truly, ignoring the fact fact that they said they'd never trust cities again which makes the whole argument moot, why would they ever lean more towards Magnagora versus New Celest?

I never once said they should, I said they should lean to no side but theirs.

I'm sorry, that was the wrong way to word it. But, you were against what Niara said originally about why they might lean towards New Celest, even if no treaties or alliances came of it, because Old Celest caused the Tainted through Ladantine's ambitions.. But I must ask, why were you against what Niara said about that if New Celest is trying to fix their mistakes of the past?

Really, ignorance to what Oakstone does in Achaea is pretty evident here. They don't enforce the the price list, they endorse it. Also, the Serenwilde and Oakstone are very much in comparison, even though the Serenwilde is on a much lower scale since it's only for one forest at the moment, and will probably, or atleast I hope, construct treaty amongst themselves for herbalism and alchemy.

There is a difference between New Celest, over on the western coast of teh Inner Sea, and old Celest, loacted way over in the now, Sea of Despaire.
They were one group with the name of Celest. We are now a new group of new with the name Celest.
Do not blame Bryan for what Brian did. They're two different entities. New Celest is not the same as Old Celest.
With that stated, I have to agree that Serenwilde favoring us(Celest) over Magnagora should only be done in respect to the taint corrupting their lands. In any other thoughts, they shoudl be against us just as much as they are against Magnagora. We are both cities, and we both seek to rule over teh Basin. Each in our own ways, but still seeking to rule it all.

While Serenwilde and Oakstone may be quite similar, you're missing one very important part...the only place thus far where one can make elixirs and salves is a room IN SERENWILDE...so it isn't like Achaea, where people can go rogue and sell them to people as easily as they do. So, that basically gives Serenwilde an easy monopoly, and, because of the already current bias towards Magnagorans..it's damn hard to find someone willing to do alchemy for you.

Who's fault is it you pissed off the only people who can do alchemy? Seriously, you don't need to be handed everything, either. For the matter, show some respect, and stop doing things that upset them. It's not like anyone in the Serenwilde asks much of you. Fix the Magnagorians who upset them.
And further, knowingly that the point you said stands now - and that it probably won't in the future, they were still hitting at what they ignorantly think Oakstone does and that's what I commented on, they didn't comment on a select few Magnagorians inability to keep their actions in check.
