Having the Tarot skillset was definitely something I looked at when choosing a archetype. Now that I have it and am using it, I'm a little disappointed. After being one of the better Noctusari fighters in Imperian and using Tarot as my primary fighting skillset, I'm not convinced it's as efficient or useful here in Lusternia. Just a little curious as to what the other Guardians think about this. Secondly, I much prefer Tarot to Hexes as the ability to afflict with said skillset is about as troubling getting the effort built up to find a bottle opener for a beer. It's annoying, but hardly useful against someone who can cure mildly decent (aka. a monkey with a keyboard).

I don't know the differences, I can't really judge.

I quite like the new Tarot skillset actually, now I'm more tempted to use different combinations because we can mask our flings. Back on Aetolia Tarot was like the primary skillset for me, Necromancy was next to useless, over here it makes a great secondary skill. Much better than Hexes too.

Double-flings with concealed effects, both doing damage, from anywhere in the local area? Weeeeeeeak

You're right, the damage is pretty damn weak.

I would gladly trade in Runes for Tarot.
Runes just seem practically useless... well, unless your Trans I suppose, but that is true for any skillset I would say.

Sooo true. Half the runes don't work at all, the other half just suck.

I haven't had time to invest much in tarot, but out of all the secondary skills, I would say it's probably one of my favorite.
Aeon is definately one of the nastier afflictions in IRE games, and if your opponent doesn't know how to deal with it, it'll more than likely win the battle for you.
Then there's hangedman, which can be used in combination with other webbing skills for a decent effect; although, tipheret and related skills make it hard to get good use out of it.
Fool is neat, but 3 power seems a bit much, if you ask me.
Soulless is just scary, from what I can tell.
Sure, not necessarily the best skillset, but it certainly has its uses. I'd sure as hell take it over runes/hexes/illusions/healing.

Healing is godly.

With a few tweaks here and there (such as warrior damage), things should get better.
I do however think that the number of paint palette applications used for several of the cards is far too high, when they also require a fairly large power cost, and hellishly slow balance when inscribing.
Surely prep time and cost should count for a little more.

Obviously all the skill suck besides Athletics, knighthoood, and forging. so nyah!

Ok.. One complaint.. Empress has a chance to resist without any resistance defenses up.. And that chance is tripped a lot. If it's resisted, it consumes the card.. That hurts

I would kill for tarot.. runes and illusions are both damn useless. Well.. there are two good skills in illusions. Invisibility, and reflections. So it's useless after apprentice, heh heh. Runes is great at trans, not before. So.. gimme tarot, I want tarot!
Unknown2004-11-02 15:41:06
eh...from what ive seen, all skillsets arent really too good, other than knighthood and athletics. I think much tweaking will come and we'll get everything established and down pat. Just takes soem time.
