OOC, even if I don't like where you've chosen, I really admire what you're trying to accomplish, and I agree with Cron. Its great to see some imaginative RP going on so early, good job!
I think that any new organization you create won't really be 'forestal' in the true sense of the word, at least if the emphasis remains on taint. The fae (and I like to think they are in essence the spiritual aspect of Nature's health) are resistant to the taint, aren't they? So the wiccan archetype wouldn't make any sense. But I do hope you are able to create some more dark classes to give Magnagora some competition .
IC, I hope I've made Elryn's view very clear.
At least if you are successful in creating some kind of death cult it will unite Serenwilde. Well, one can always hope.

I have always wanted something with Glomdoring, even when I was in closed beta. I thought it would be a great idea, and a lot of fun to RP. Richter already had some personal RP he was dealing with, such as the soul of Draest Carthan co-inhabiting his body, and the prophecy that was made while under his influence. I took that personal RP a step further and joined up with Visaeris. Richter, ic, doesn't much like serenwilde's people, but doesn't have an extreme fondness for the cities either.
Which reminds me, thanks for the Divine help on my RP.
Perhaps in the future, we will be able to restore the ravenwood to what it was before, or even a tainted, functioning, version of what it was before. Some basic, basic things. Perhaps we could erect a small building or so: living on the ground isn't all that fun every night. I can see great things going on for the glomdoring, and indeed, for all of Lusternia.
This event happened to be just what I wanted. And look, less people talking over channels! Now that I'm just down to, what, two?
I hope the serenwilders don't take it upon themselves to go after this group. I've already heard talk of people being hunted, because they went to the Glomdoring.
Lastly, just to clarify, when I left for the glomdoring, I had taken some power a day or so before. I accidentally took too much, and reported it. Had nothing to do with the fact that I was leaving, because my reserves still aren't full...
Take care, have fun, and keep RPing!

No. It won't be hard on me, nor did I leave too early.
Not sure how you worked that one out, now most of your skills don't work and you know there's not much chance they'll have time to work on a new commune for a while.
It seems fairly obvious that you rushed into this one because you were upset at certain actions taken against you by Magnagorians.
Daganev2004-11-01 02:33:40
I don't know waht you mean by "not a commune or city" I think a Tainted Commune is a great idea. Whereas Imperian had multiple forestal coucils that worked well, theres not much reason for them to fight eachother, but a Commune who thinks all land should be tainted, vs a a commune that thinks it shouldn't seems great to me. Nothing says happy times like a 4 way war, with muttiple aliances that can change all the time. You have Tainted Forest , Tainted city, Cleansing City, and Cleansing forest, Sometimes Tainted groups get together, sometimes City groups get together etc. Looks great to me.
Devris2004-11-01 02:46:33
I always saw the Serenwilde as more of a "Keep the heck outta our Turf" commune than a cleansing commune.

I don't know about Visaeris' skills, but skills not working? You must be joking. The Divine have always said that going rouge would be -hard-, because you don't get to use your power skills. I don't see how power skills are "most of your skills." I have... Athletics, Knighthood... Ooh, the only power that those take are normal power. I have the majority of my three skillsets intact.
Well, except for the bug that doesn't let me use any totems skills. Says I don't have the right kind of power for that feat, when I'm not doing a feat.
Sucky.

QUOTE (Cron @ Nov 1 2004, 06:31 AM)
On another note I very much dislike the asscoiation of Crow and Taint.
Wasn't Crow the result of the Taint, though? I thought that Brother Raven was one of the Gloriana coven's original great spirits, but then Rowena and Brennen (Brennan?) were Tainted and so were the spirits.
With relevance to the topic of the thread, I like this idea. I agree with the balance argument, we've really needed a 'council' in direct opposition to another one for a long time, in every game. I hope that you get support sooner rather than later, Visaeris.
Fain2004-11-01 05:37:00
As much as we all (admins) love this idea, it will be a long time coming if and when it comes.. Lusternia is still in open beta and hasn't even been open a month yet (c'mon people! give us a break!) There are plenty of other reasons why this may not happen for a while, but keep the faith! The more player interest there is, the more likely it is to happen.. so just don't give up on it. Anyway, that's my two cents.. I'm sure most of the other gods will agree with my statement as well.
Asarnil2004-11-01 07:05:19
I think that its on the same level as the "make Tasur'ke a city" group from Aetolia or virtually any other group wanting to make a new city - the only actual time I have seen a new area decently RP'd was by Harker in the case of Ithaqua - and you are nowhere near as good as that Vis. Personally I think the Divine will make you wait for about 3 years before introducing a new City/Commune, and then make it about 2 area's away from Glomdoring just to annoy you
Daganev2004-11-01 07:20:20
If real life has anything to say about it, it takes about 10 years to get a group of people to really feel like a community. Which makes me think a good amount of time for a group to get any sort of responce from the admins would be 30 IC years.
Niara2004-11-01 08:09:33
When I read the history before closed beta opened I imagined playing some sort of dark druid from Glomdoring, something with necromancy and such, that would have been surely very interesting.
But I really wonder, open beta is not even running for 4 weeks and you are already leaving your shiny city and go for Glomdoring? Uhm, well, everyone their own thing. I just hope I won't hear any complaints that nothing is happening. Good luck with your play but I fear it will get boring within the next month.

Wait, are you disagreeing with me or agreeing with me there? First you say I must be joking about skills not working and then you go off and list why it is hard to be a rogue because skills don't work? If you're going to argue with me about it at least don't contradict yourself the third sentance in.
Merloch2004-11-01 13:03:14
Well, I'm a little wary of this. Namely, because I watch the histories.
Great Spirits = Original Fae Lords.
Great Spirits of Gloriana = Raven and Night
Kethuru's essence escaped when Celest weakened the Nine Seals, taint spread like a wildfire, and when it hit Gloriana, it tainted the two Spirits there.
Brennan and his council were merged with the forest, which is how they got tainted.
Rowena, HighPriestess of the Night Coven, banded her coven together and rose up to merge with Mother Night, to try to stop the taint. Well, she was unaware that Mother Night was already Tainted, and so, she became tainted too.
This taint, can be viewed as a form of insanity now that it lacks Kethuru's essence.
Now, to view Glomdoring as what it is today.
Crow seeks to kill White Hart. (Opposition of Serenwilde.)
Rowena tries to hurt Gib Gladhart/captured him/tortures him.
The entire Glomdoring Forest is designed to be against Serenwilde. Thus, any who join it should expect Serenwilde to hate them, hunt them, in my opinion.
I'm trying to keep away from the 'Forestals only hurt what hurts them, and only after it does so.'
'Uh.. They're a group of people trying to bring back Crow and work against the Serenwilde, yeah, they should be stopped.'
Anyway, just a few bits of ideas considering the actions.

Hold on...this is nothing like the "Turn Tasur'ke into a city" guys. Glomdoring is, obviously, a prospect for a new commune, Tasur'ke was just another village. The Tasur'ke guys made their own stories and histories and explanations of Tasur'ke- the city, while Visaeris and company is actually working from a very central element of the history of the Basin.
Overall, I'm impressed with the RP of the evil guys, they're certainly much better than in the other IRE realms. Doesn't mean I have to like them IC, though.

Typhus2004-11-01 13:56:35
Heh.. I find it amusing we are trying to start a new forest commune when we have yet to control the herbal harvesting.
Asarnil2004-11-01 14:38:31
So far, I haven't seen much more than another Tasur'ke in the making Thalacus. Your arguments of why it isn't are fairly inane, especially considering that the Tasur'ke mob DIDN"T HAVE ANY PREVIOUS HISTORIES TO WORK WITH, so they had to make it up. Until Vis and his mob consistently have rp'd building up a Glomdoring commune (and no, making a few posts and doing what they have done so far hasn't convinced me) then it looks like nothing more than an attempt to get more glory for their characters.
Thalacus2004-11-01 14:44:51
Come on. My point was simply that The Tasur folk took every argument and reason out of the blue, as they made it all up, while there is a major reason there should be a Glomdoring commune; the history of the Holy Celestine Empire should show you that much.
Neale2004-11-01 14:47:46
A Glomdoring commune is something I've been looking forward too OOC, since it's badly needed for game balance.
