I remember my first time.

Imagine an endlessly sunny day sometime in July 1988, a good year for looking great in your mahogany skin, but you're under a roof of glass in a tropical nursery this early afternoon. Your senses are already painfully aware of the true magnificence of (potted) nature -orchids of a dozen species are releasing their heady scent into a humid environment, florescences of scarlet and vermillion punctuate swathes of swordlike leaves all around you and Spanish moss forms victorian net curtains in festoons. And then to add to this panorama of heady awareness, someone very kindly places 'Tiny Dynamine' on the CD player, the speakers of which have been placed in quadraphonic arrangement in each greenhouse (there are four such).

A '12-string guitar arrangement that's so rich it'd stop a diabetic at ten paces' is only the start of your first ever journey through the ice-flows and cloud formations that'll forever be a soundtrack for the perfect, stolen, moments of your future. By 'Eggs and Their Shells', the body is in shuddering hypnotic spasm and the mind is bludgeoned senseless by something that's all about beauty, but an indefinable one that somehow beggars an accurate description in mere words.

Yes, you've spent your last X years half-asleep. Now you're -aware- of the Immortal and elusive Muse -She who inspires Shamans and Poets, Hermits and Visionaries.

Like hearing the voices of angels. Heh, have you ever read any of their lyrics sheets though? Some of their european imports had them included.

There was a contribution of theirs to a 4AD compilation that got me hooked and after a temporary period awake I'm now digging out my old records and fluffing the pillows for another long slumber.

Believe it or not, they're *incredible* live - the sight of three calm Japanese girls going absolutely nuts on stage tends to get people dancing like mad. Much better than in the movie .

Lacuna Coil's also really good, if you like heavier music that isn't entirely in English.

Plus the lead singer is a hottie.....I just hate the guy's voice that sings.......it gets on my last friggin' nerve.
