Oh, be very careful when you try to shield. You can't do it as often as you would like to. One broken leg stopped me. Damn sharks.
Shiri2004-11-06 00:06:55
Quite a lot of things can break it anyway. Most sentient, er, people (orcs, dwarf miners, and so forth), harpies, and about everything on astral is able to void, whereas tough beasts like starsuckers, thornbeasts, and lindwyrms can't. In general, the more humanoid it is, the more likely it is to be able to destroy a pentagram/circle, so be careful where you try to protect yourself rather than run.

Gravediggers also have the fun ability to smash though your shields, and just about anything else you care to throw at them.

Now some idiot *or genius if it is a Magnagoran enemy* dropped on a monolith at the gravedigger pit..............so now you can't be summoned or teleport out. Thanks a lot there......you bad bad people

Actually I'm well aware, but that's a bug and I didn't want to let others know. Good job though
Auseklis2004-11-08 16:56:04
Hmm, don't know how we missed them. You'll find they've learnt quickly.

Hopefully You all reduced the number that tends to pile up in a room then as well? Those things tend to clump together like stink on an Ashley *spellcheck* Simpson song.
Olan2004-11-08 17:48:11
I think they are intended to pile up like that. Astral isn't meant to be easy.

Yeah! But when there's like 7 of them there.........that's not just hard that's nuts.
Unknown2004-11-08 20:58:42
yeah tell me about it whewwww
stagar2004-11-09 14:12:13
Well, the way I've always figured shielding would do best is that it goes by the itellect of the creature your fighting. A creature capable of speaking, and rasional thought, would have the comprehension for the basic skills to break a skill, a creature running purely off instinct, would not.
Example: A Dracnari warrior (who, contrary to popular beliefe, have a intelligence that is 14, I figure high enough to be decent with basic magics) could be able to counter a shield, tough a llama proably wouldn't.
Qoute of the reply:
Katryal: Get your mind out of the gutter stagar, I was on her shoulders!

The llama would just spit right through the energetical fabric of the shield into your eyes.
stagar2004-11-09 14:29:50
well, God knows them Llama's and their spitting...*eye* but thats besides the point, As to the astral, yeah I think everything their should break shields because I inted to use it like my personal "lupine hunting grounds" when I get big enough and I expect it to be a blood challenge.
Qoute of the reply:
Stagar: Fine fine FINE! If you insit I will keep my eating habbits to myself, but I still get to devour Visaeris next time we kill him *hiss*

Just thought I would ask since I havent been to astral except in a large group hiding behind Chade. I am guessing they can't break Serpent? Or am I wrong?

I've noticed many creatures that seem able to shield and void considerably faster than I can, even as a Mugwump. Has anyone else noticed this?
Several creatures seem to attack at the same rate I do, but even if I void them as soon as they shield, they still get their next attack in before I recover eq from the void.
Everything on Astral I've tested is like this, and many things on Prime as well. It's somewhat odd that action speed seems so much faster than attack speed for them.
