i cant say it enough. scariest game ive ever played is hands down silent hill. it's not as brutal as resident evil, but it has alot fo elements Re doesnt have. You can't always see your enemies, or hear them. and while you dont see any deaths of people from the monster's in SH1, you can assume it from the gory grounds. that, and it's almost always eeriely silent, and you never know where the enemy is comming from. By far, the scariest part is the school, i was afraid fo the dark two weeks after entering ti for the first time. those child zombies scare the hell out of me.
Unknown2004-11-18 19:58:24
I say Fatal Frame was pretty freaking scary myself but that's just me.
Shiri2004-11-18 22:46:58
Yeah, the FFrame games were pretty scary. The whole random encounter thing got to you after a while, eh? I mean, in Silent Hill, after you cleared out the dudes, no one else showed up. In System Shock 2, barely anything showed up, and when it did it was usually just a hybrid you could nonk with your wrench pretty easy. (except in the stupid cargo bays, man I hated them) But in Fatal Frame, you're just standing around and random ghosts appear and make you waste your ammo! Gaah!
Laysus2004-11-19 13:18:08
hm...
Total Annihilation
Diablo
Elite
Frontier (Elite 2)
Frontier - First Encounters (even if I never got too far in it)
Tachyon - The Fringe
Nethack
Warcraft (1, 2, and 3)
UFO - enemy unknown
XCOM - Terror From the deep (or whatever it's called, I'm bad with precise names )
XCOM - Apocalypse
Halo
Neverwinter Nights
Baldurs Gate
GTA, GTA London, and GTA 2 (I hated it once it stopped being top-down )
Farcry
X-wing, Tie fighter, and X-Wing Vs Tie fighter. *love star wars*
Fallout 1 & 2
Earthsiege 2
Hi-Octane
Transport Tycoon
Unreal Tournament (the original - still haven't gotten around to playing the others)
Discworld
Discworld Noir
Simon the Sorceror (1 & 2)
that's all I can think of now, but the Elite series are by far my favourites from that list... so much playability, and so much fun when you get bored in Frontier, or Frontier - First encounters and start a fight with the cops around the nearest space station/starport. *gets carried away and starts making shooting and exploding noises* *cackle*
Edit: Yes, yes I realise I have no life :/

Scariest games ever: Silent hill (any of em),
Ghost hunter: their was ONE part of ghost hunter that was really scary, the rest wasn't scary at all, (that being the voodoo ghost mansion thing..you know, with the little kids being eaten by crocodiles)
and the Suffering: but it was really scary cause it had the startle you affect down...walking along and Whoah..lookie here, some guy with his torso missing just flashed acrost my screen. You who have played it know what i'm talking about.
Best games ever:
FF Series, (8 is my favorite)
Secret of Mana
Chrono Trigger

Mmm...X-Com games...(For those who do not know, UFO - Enemy Unknown was called X-Com in the US).
I wish they'd make another true game in that series...there was one a bit over a year ago called...meh, I forget the exact name, but it had UFO as the title, with a subtitle as well. Was similar to X-Com and was fairly good. Not the same, but a worthwhile play if you were a fan of that series. I just wish they'd make another X-Com...hell...I don't care, I'll help design the thing!

UFO: aftermath?
Typhus2004-11-19 19:43:44
Heh. Let it begin.
Dance, Dance Revolution Ultramix- get four people and beer and you will understand.
Megaman X- just the first one. One of the best plots for a megaman game
Eyetoy-Addictive little bugger. A plague on Sony
Legend of Zelda, a Link to the Past- great game
Dino Ricky- I wasted about a month of my life trying to beat that
Mariokart- get a friend and have fun
Earthbound- who doesn't like Mr. Saturn?
Command and Conquer + Warcraft 2- good way to spend a day
Harvest Moon + Harvest Moon 64- Who else made a million in a year?
Xcom- Die you grey! How _dare_ you kill my Captain!
Vagrant Story + Valkyrie Profile- great games
Secret of Mana, Legend of Mana- Anyone else get both the endings to the first?
Chrono Trigger- Robo runs up, hits them, then runs back. Explain someone
Basewars- Heh. I blew up your first baseman. Hahahaha...
Oh, and a bonus. Name my Avatar from memory, the name not just where it is from for a free credit!

XCom was genius. You know someone coded Multiplayer support for it? Here's the link: http://ufo2000.sourceforge.net/
If you still have a copy of xcom (or have found it abandonware), you can play it online against someone else. Good stuff!
Some of my favorite games:
Half Life/Half Life 2
Elder Scrolls Games
Ultima Underworld 1 and 2
Aliens vs Predator games
Starcraft, Warcrafts
XCom (as stated above)
Chrono Trigger
Final Fantasy 6 (the only one I've really liked- sorry square addicts)
Secret of Mana
Any classic Star Wars game
Baldurs Gate 1 and 2
Vampire the Masquerade: Redemption
There's a million more, but hey thats a start.

Heh, my second time around it was easy to make lots, maybe not a million. I'm the type of person who plays the first time around just to play and experience it. The second time I play I usually try to get everything, such as sidequests and all that fun stuff.

No! Divine aren't allowed to have video games! *thrash* They must devote their life to Lusternia! *conniption*
I like Starcraft too.

It's amusing to see how the Divine are actually cool interesting people. I always blink when I hear Lisaera complain about mass huntress rush or whatever. Seems like they should have no lives outside of Lusternia *eye*...*takes cover fast*

Bloody brilliant game. My play cd got scratched though ._.
And I'm still trying to make Xcom apocalypse work in Windows 2k - got the other two going fine though.

*eye Shiri* You expect the creators of Lusternia to be like the gods in other IRE muds? Shame on you.

Not all the gods are a little dull, I mean Isune is the best!!

As far as I am aware, you are the only one on this forum to mention a mass huntress rush. I would certainly never succumb to such a poorly-thought out tactic.
I would have thought considering how cool we are in-game (Author's Note: Argue and I will murder you. Horribly.) you should have assumed that we were cool in every realm, electronic or otherwise.
Unknown2004-11-20 14:55:15
Starcraft is a Classic. Did anyone else love Tribes?
My favorite game ever would have to be Zombie Panic! or Natural Selection (mods for Half-Life).

Yeah, I did mention the mass huntress rush, but I can only think of that reason you'd hate the night elves so much, which you DID mention. And yeah, good point Fain. *inno*
And I've never met Lisaera, only heard Her having conversations with Valek on shouts about virgins, so yeah. *hum*
