There's a lot of D&D refrences here... probably a lot of the stuff you'd need:

Hmm, looks like I'll be DMing then, unless anyone wants to volunteer. And Quidgyboo, not my place alone to make this decision, but since the way I usually play the DM takes care of most of the rolls, you actually need to know how to roleplay more than how to play the game. You can learn that as you go along, or get helped out. If you want, I could give you the basics ahead of time, or if whoever else plays agrees, you could play without knowing how at all, and rely on RP common sense. When I played last, 4 of the 6 players'd never played before (they were all Achaean but one though).
EDIT, and man am I stupid for not mentioning this earlier. During British holidays, I can be here literally any time of day (and I mean any time), and during British schooldays I can be here from about 5PM-2AM, somewhere within those hours. But Saturdays are best.

Well in that case I'd be willing to give it a go. i've done a bit of free-form RPG online before, I think I went pretty well at that. As long as everyone else is comfortable with me trying, I'm up for it. I could buy/download a sourcebook also so if anyone has any links to one I'd appreciate it.
Other than that I'll just take the lead from others and learn as I go along.

Not exactly on topic, but I'd love to see some people try to convert Lusternia to D+D...
With the open gaming license, that'd actually be a possibility...
Does anyone have any experience writing RPGs? I don't think I'm up for the task, as I'm currently writing on another RPG in my native tongue, which I hope to get published soon...but how would Lusternia react to someone wanting to create a "Lusternia D20" book? Would they be forced to pay extensive license fees?

Not sure many people would buy it, although I'd probably get a few copies
As for licence, you'd have to ask Estarra, I think the intellectual property is owned by IRE if I remember correctly.

Though I haven't played DnD since shortly after 3rd ed came out, I have been a tabletop roleplayer for nearly 8 years now and I've played maybe...once? I'm always the DM/GM/Storyteller.
I personally prefer the World of Darkness, MERP or Shadowrun series myself, but a good session of DnD isn't bad for a laugh every now and then.

Okay, we have 2 characters completed, and one more in the works. Whoever else wants to play, get in touch with Nejii, because I don't know half your Lusternian names (I'm looking at you Quidgyboo). Or just add me to MSN directly. I've remade the world, so it's all original and stuff now (with a little help from Ellara.)
If we can get everyone together in time, looks like it's set to go Saturday after the coming one at about 7PM GMT, give or take. Get in touch with me ASAP though, it makes it easier for everyone if I have more time to plan ahead.

Okay, update on status (and shameless bump ), Ellara, Hiriako, Asarnil, random non-Lusternian dude one of us convinced to play, and Laneth all have characters. World description's being pretty much finished as far as brief descriptions go, so everything's about to set up. Have the intro thingy done too, it's kinda contrived but as I've used an excuse before it's pretty hard to make a cohesive beginning when no one knows each other. *hum* Any last minute applications prolly need to be finished by Wednesday max so I have 4 days to work them into the game.

Tempting...I've done RPG design before. Was even invited to do a Module for D&D 3rd Ed. I think I could find a few ways to reasonably transfer abilities into a D20 format...hrm...damn you Auseklis, now my mind is wandering at work again.

Still need a DM?
Shiri2004-11-17 21:44:16
Depends. I mean, we've already made our characters (except me obviously), and a setting, and they all fit in with said setting, and we've scheduled a time. Sooo, I think I'm gonna be DM. I'd love for someone else to volunteer so I can play if needed, but we've kinda already set things up so it'd be a bit restrictive. Oh, and you'd have to get the rest of us to agree. Not my call. *g*

I'm not too particular who the DM is, but I need to talk to them as my character has some rather...unique aspects. So if you're going to do it, Rauros, send me a tell in game, or an IM to acratin (Yahoo, MSN or AIM). I'm not at home, so it'll be a while before I'm on.

This sounds like fun. I would ask to join, but I have too many hobbies and too little time. Maybe next semester. But, what I can do is offer a suggestion.
Open RPG
I haven't used it before, but its seems good. The client has maps, chat, dice rollers, etc.
