Since the Nihilist guild is mostly based around Demon Lords, and the first Demon Lord you Pact too is the one you will follow for the rest of your Nihilist life. As a leader of a Sect, I've noticed that a lot of people pledge to Gorgulu, even when the AB Files says this:
I was just wondering why people pledge to him first, and why is it that Nihilism promotes Madness. Plus, I was wondering if the Celestines have the same promblem with their Supernals?

I don't think any Supernals promote Madness. I'm not sure what you mean - a problem on the other side of the spectrum?

People who pledged to Shakiniel yet don't defend other Celestines when in need?

Personally, the first supernal I pledged myself to was Shakiniel cause of her teachings of protecting the innocent.
I agree though that too many people don't give a thought about what being pledged/pacted with your first supernal/demon lord means and just look around for the one with the skills they want most for their companion.

I see what you mean, but the problem is that you can't force anyone to act completely in accordance with the pledge they make. Sure, you can make the sects for pledges, but it's like Ridanmos said. I'm not sure if there's as much of that in the Celestines, since I quit.

I'm sorry to say we haven't been too focused on the importance of Pledges and the meaning of the Supernals so far, but the current leadership is definitely working to change this. We're implementing several ceremonies and writing out a few scrolls that will hopefully encourage (in several cases, require) novices and full guild members alike to learn more about the Supernals and consider their teachings more carefully. So, with any luck, the RP surrounding the first Pledge will increase as these are put into place.

One problem is that your pledge is broken the instant the Supernal is killed, so this technicality can give certain people the opportunity to cancel their old RP if they wish. This may or may not be a good thing, depending on your view.

See, we noticed that but there are ways around that. We have titles, sects, all that stuff setup, and I doubt any Supernal/Demon Lord is going to die for a long time.

With their new power, I don't know if they'll die -ever-. I mean, quite aside from their being strong now, even if the Magnagorans levelled up a hell of a lot in order to beat even Raziela, the Celestians would probably be at a level to do something to stop them by that point.
On the off chance one of them did die, though, I'd hope it doesn't break the pledge though, because that really unravels a lot of RP if you do it like that. I pledged to Baalphegar first, then Gorgulu - and that was RP based, I had no idea what skills they gave, or even anything ABOUT the skills they gave. I didn't even have the imp thing by that time for crying out loud.

I thought you were a Celestine...
Shiri2004-11-14 01:07:24
Shiri's an Aquamancer, but since these forums are OOC, I'm allowed to refer to my other characters. Never had a Celestine character, for reference

When I was a Nihilist, I noticed too that a whole lot of people went for Gorgulu and pretty much the rest of the majority went to Baalphegar.....to me these two along with Luciphage should be the top three but who am I to say?
Nokraenom2004-11-17 11:27:30
Luciphage is actually the smallest Sect, at least as far as I am aware.
Unknown2004-11-17 11:43:40
hmm-mm..
Kaervas2004-11-17 14:37:31
Well there's about 2 people in Ashtorath's sect that I'm aware of
Shiri2004-11-17 18:02:27
That may or may not be because I could never find Luciphage, and I didn't dare trying to embrace any of the demons like with the Supernals or they probably would have taken a chomp out of my head again, and no one on the guild channel was feeling particularly helpful at the time, so I just gave up and went with Baalphegar
Unknown2004-11-17 19:09:09
If you can figure out how to pact Baalphegar, Luciphage isn't so terrible *evilgrin* Trust me
Unknown2004-11-17 19:21:27
As the only saying goes, Embrace a Supernal and you walk away with a smile, embrace a demon lord and you end up on death sight By the way, how does embracing demonlords work anyway?
Unknown2004-11-17 19:28:35
I doubt the Nihilists are going to go about telling that on here
Unknown2004-11-17 19:34:17
awww, they got me curious!! oh well.
