As opposed to...the whorehouse that Gaudiguch already has and NPCs actively advertise?

The one in Gaudiguch, though, is there for the sake of enlightenment like everything else in the city is, as opposed to one's personal gain, I think? :S That's how it struck me.

The whorehouses are clearly there to keep dabs on the citizenry, make good places for keeping an ear.

I'm really pretty neutral on the whole subject. I think it's legitimate RP, just... RP that revolves around mudsex. And it's also legitimate RP to have your character visit said brothel. Could make for some interesting situations.

I also think it could be played off that Luciden's brothel exists to bring about enlightenment as well. Just depends on how she runs it and how the "girls" play it. (I say girls in quotes because a man Ongaku was with was in the Jardin.)

... now I miss him. sad.gif

DAMMIT, RENNY. DON'T SPOIL THE ENDING.

Started playing again, Luciden's been rather lonely and has thus re-opened the brothel. She's currently married to an inactive and may be forever inactive character, however, she may divorce and remarry if she can find the right man.

If your character isn't ok with her owning the brothel while dating your character, be prepared for them to sit down and have a little chat and some RP to get her to leave her brothel. suspicious.gif

Um, ya, so, contact me in game because I don't log in to the forums much.

Retracted. Jigan has returned! content.gif

And, as for all you nay-sayers of brothel RP: It just so happens that Luciden hates hunting and questing, but enjoys managing and creativity, so why not run a brothel? There are plenty of people that hate hunting and questing but use their time to send off designs or have extravagant RP. Why? Because it's fun! What about Tully? He RPed being a Janitor! But, Tully was awesome. My point is, Luciden doesn't just sell mudsex and companionship, she's not just a matchmaker and a shoulder to cry on, it's fun RP to play an eccentric Madame of a brothel who is the black sheep of an aristocratic family, who has a slightly French air. There's more to it than just mudsex and getting paid, it's calculating taxes and other needs.

Not to mention, guys, it's a GAME, it's meant for entertainment not to get hung up about it like it's real life, yes, I even laugh at my own rp sometimes, but quite frankly, who doesn't? But, I have the courtesy to not make fun of your rp, can't you return it? We all play Lusternia to have fun and relax a bit, and it might be relaxing for you guys to be an censor.gif and call me a whore (oocly) every time I log in, but you know what? That's why I took a break in the first place, because the game wasn't fun anymore because of people like you (you know who you are.) Furthermore, I'm not my character, and if I get one more OOC tell calling me a whore, I'm going to issue you.

No really, I read somewhere that all the physical indulgences are provided for the sake of enlightenment or some crap. Just don't remember where it was, if it was cannon or not.

There are real life religions that advocate indulging in excessive physical pleasure in order to help raise spirituality. Doesn't seem so strange that a city like Gaudiguch would have a brothel set up for that.
Kante2010-06-02 17:43:51
The higher priced escorts offer more "enlightenment".

Hmm. If this is the case, I don't really see why people are harping on Luciden for doing something similar.

People have roleplayed far worse in the history of Lusternia. Incest, torture, brainwashing. You don't see any complaints about that, but someone opens a brothel and everyone flips off their rocker. As long as it follows the rules of the game(and the law) then it should be fine.

Not advocating for mudsex, as it's something I would never partake in. But let people play the way they want.
Casilu2010-06-03 03:14:51
What I am hearing is that the difference between Luciden's brothel and the Gaudi official one is that one advertises as being for enlightenment and the other does not.

Also, marry Casilu.

So all that Luciden has to do is change her business model to "purchasing enlightenment"?
Mihewi2010-06-03 03:19:42
The NPC Achaean brothel in Mhaldor has the one in Gaudiguch beat. Full interludes for 2k ftw.

Not... that I would know about that... or anything. I was curious, damn it.

Kinda yeah. That really seems to be the main difference between the NPC one and Luciden's other than the fact that Luciden's is player-run and 'real'.

Point is, I need someone to marry.
Neos2010-06-03 04:00:02
Neos continue to seek to tie the knot also. I have found some kids I would love to bring into the family, but I'm missing a crucial part of the process. A wife. So please marry Neos. He will love you however much you wish. His brother is a former GM. Sister-in-law a former GA. And the family owns two manses. A shop and the family home. And an aethership. What more is needed?

Spelling their own name right? tongue.gif
Lillie2010-06-03 07:11:11
Lillie's looking for somebody too. All you have to be is:
Seren
Nice to him (he's really easy to win over, promise)
Interested in Moony stuff
Human/Trill/Faeling/Elfen
Willing to RP an actual relationship, not just 'LOL LET'S GO AND ROLL IN ZE HAY.' That'll take some time since Lillie has a lot of emotional stuff he hasn't sorted through yet.

And, for Maylea's sake, don't say anything along the lines of "Why are you dressed like that? You're a boy!" "You look like a boy!" , etc. Doing so will only end in tears and Lillie doing curse rituals that probably won't actually do anything since they're all emotes...
Anyway, that's that!

Lawliet2010-06-03 11:53:59
My only real issue with the whore house is that, well, we know about it. It's a business, it needs to advertise, it DOES advertise, but we're supposed to keep things like that under raps and in private for the young people that are about, aren't we? I don't wanna know about it, and I'm kinda judging the people that actually pay for it (though if you can con someone into paying you for that more power to you).

My other issue (though it's a smaller one) with it is that behind every character willing to do something there's always got to be a spark in the person playing them that makes them do it, all the sick things writtens by horror authors, all the crazy shenanigans people get up to, they all come from somewhere, don't they? It's why I marvel at people like Jigan who can make someone random and entertaining, because I don't think I could do that, It's why I'm slightly creeped out by the people that think up the weirder, creepier things to do, baby rituals, brothels and incest. It was your idea to do it and you went along and did it, it IS a reflection on you.

Though by no means am I saying that that makes you or anyone else that does the weirder things a bad person, we've all got slightly darker aspects hidden away.

Anyway, Reiha! Marry me!
