Actually, Nihilists are Anti-Choke. Celestines, not so much.

Anyone with passives should be doing well in choke. Nihilists are better in choke I would agree, though.

Well. Think of it this way. If you have a Shadowdancer and a Celestine going up against each other in Choke. Unless the Angel is wrathed, there is no way that the passive affliction output of the Celestine is going to beat the Shadowdancer's. A Celestine also has no direct way to turn the offense of a Shadowdancer against them. Nihilists, on the other hand, have Disfigure, Crucify, Ectoplasm, Contagion, Tail Sting, passive Shackles, Dominate. They are, in my opinion, the best geared class to take on Shadowdancers.
Razenth2009-11-12 00:56:37
And the nymph. q_q Sooo annoying waiting for vapors to proc and then whoops! Nymph ninja!

^ obvious. Coldaura too. Angel, heretic/inf/inq would work well too.

I lol'd.
Look, there is an entry for combat in Lusternia. Compared to Imperian, it is larger here than it is there. However, by no means are Celestines 'useless' at all. You have investable vapors, Soulless, Inquisition. Those three alone make you a viable weapon.

You just listed a at least three trans skills required, trans discipline is needed to use inquisition. Yet as a Shadowdancer I can see a viable offense in less than three trans skills. Our mana kill isnt even really an option at the moment and a.... um.. great person... handled radiance and so it is STILL useless for the intentions we gave it.

I can't really say I've fought many frightening Celestines, but Razenth seems to be the most capable out of all of the ones I've fought. Don't count your class out just because you're not killing high tier people off the bat.
Most Celestines are training, if you think Razenth is the best wow do you have alot to learn. I think he will admit he is kind of crappy and chokes in ALOT of combat.

Rylen: In your opinion who is the best Celestine?
And If you want to be a top tier combatant you're going to need more than 3 trans skills as -any- guild.

Dude, why would you even consider using radiance? Damage-kill for a Celestine is kind of unviable. Even with addiction and vapors and aeon and whatever else you might have in mind, it's not as good an option like Inquisition is. Unless you don't talk highest tier, in which case, Lusternia is balanced around omnitrans. (Or used to be.)

Thoros and Amaru. Narsrim played one very intelligently too. But that had more to do with his tactical use of skills other than the guild skills.

Unless radiance was going to be buffed to do an insane amount of damage, it wouldn't help you get a damage kill.
And absolves are possible, just not really against people with a lot of mana. In group fights you can take out warriors who are surged and/or lowbies.
Other than that you have to rely on inquisition/soulless, which is only good in 1v1 fights. In groups Celestines are more of a support class. You can vapors people, aeon people, hangedman people, etc, etc. Coordinating with a mage in small group fights you can almost always get an absolve, have your buddy either doing mindblast or giving clots, they'll either get mindbursted, absolved, or bleed to death - from my experience the absolve usually happens first.
Desitrus2009-11-12 16:21:03
Mages can actually just straight up drain mana with evenblade and the mag equivalent.

I'm somewhat curious as to what would happen if Celest/Mag kicked out Terentia/Fain from their Pantheon. Would the skill change?

It would become Legion and Brightest Light. And the effects would change. Legion would be a delayed instakill that brought the user up to satiated and Brightest Light would make the person gouge out both eyes with a rusty spoon and slit their own throat with a senso envenomed knife so they will never have to see something like that again.
