Alright, enough argument, this is the descriptions thread, not the make-an-ass-of-myself thread.

Any advice?

This is not advice, but OMG IT'S YOU.

This character is adorable and a panda tae'dae and I want to squish him, eee! wub.gif

Alright. Next person to continue this back-and-forth gets a day off from posting.

I'm not happy that I get to sort through this!

Well, I've trimmed some of the fat, at least!

Yes, Lusternia lends itself to a wide, diverse population. Prior Estarra's coming, merians could not have hair, aslarans could not have wings, etc. Though sure, I guess, you could have a really grotesque halfbreed aslaran/trill, or aslaran/merian, or trill/merian. Though at the last, they'll EITHER fly OR breathe underwater, which will determine if they're trill or merian!

Can I get some information on changelings? I hear many people saying they have no base form... I don't understand. I've had a cameo for... non-RP reasons for a long time now, but I figure I might as well write something in my description now.

There is no information. If you talk to me IG I can help you work it out though.

What Kial said. There's no canon on changelings. Even different Divine have different theories. The only thing that changelings seem to have in common across peoples' opinions is that they can shift races on a regular basis, and they all posses the cameo. Some utilize all the races, some people roleplay only being able to shift between a set of races. Some claim changelings have amalgamated shards, some claim to have the shard of a . It's really up to you to make of it what you will.

I go with the Eventru chili diarrhea theory, makes the most sense.

Still working on mine...

She is a bouncing furrikin and is tiny and raccoonlike, though she still remains
quite humanoid from the middle up. Her eyes are large and pale pink, feathered
with light eyelashes. Her complexion is ghostly--almost sickly, washed out even
further by the mop of long, white hair gathered messily with ribbon and pins.
Her features are pointed and mischievous-looking, with bright rouge adding a
pink flush to her cheeks. Scruffy, white fur almost glows on her lower body,
with a few fringes along her bare arms and at the sides of her face. She sports
a long tail and large raccoon's ears. Her body is quite thin, and she appears
malnourished. She is wearing a tight black leather vest, a sheer black tinted
scarf, a light, white cotton skirt, elegantly heeled silvery leather sandals, a
dashing black silver-plumed hat, an eight-eyed ruby spider ring, a black studded
belt, a snug pair of ebony riding gloves, an astrological charm bracelet, a
leather backpack, a white silk blouse, a steel talon earring through her left
ear, and a steel talon earring through her right ear.

Furrikin have fur on 100% of their body unless they resemble an animal that does not have fur. Having bare skin would look weird, considering furrikin resemble forest animals. Have you ever seen a loboshigaru or an aslaran with half of their body being perfectly human-like smooth skin?

As such, here's my proposed revision of your description.

She is a bouncing furrikin and is tiny and raccoonlike. Her eyes are large and pale pink, feathered with light eyelashes. The hue of her fur is ghostly almost sickly, washed out even further by the mop of long, white hair gathered messily with ribbon and pins. Her features are pointed and mischievous-looking, with bright rouge adding a pink flush to the sides of her muzzle. Scruffy, white fur almost glows on her figure, with a few heavier fringes along her furred arms and at the sides of her face. She sports a long tail and large raccoon's ears. Her body is quite thin, and she appears malnourished.

The racial picture on the site looked fine to me ohmy.gif

She looks like she's got a human face, and only her shoulders are sort of hairy.
Mihewi2009-09-19 00:02:32
The racial picture looks like a human with a tail strapped to her back and messy hair. Silly artists didn't know what they were doing... but then, I'm the one who had a porcupine furrikin who was actually a walking, talking porcupine without any human features at all. So I'm biased.

Plus! Animals are so much cuter without random human parts sticking out of them. Human flesh can be so ugly... but that's just me.

Yes, but there's fur covering her face, you can tell by the colour of the ears and arms compared to the part that is obviously furry, i.e. the legs. It's just the artists's style.

Also, what's up with the tit straps? I mean, god forbid she could just wear something that covers them instead of designing restraints to keep them in place.

I agree completely. It's hard for me to play a human in any setting where you can choose from alien/fantasy races. Fur and different-coloured skins look so much more appealing to the eye.

You can have her look like this if you want, it really doesn't matter since people will still what they want in their mindseye.

Also ,this is just personal opinion, but ditch the high heels. Get boots or slippers or something, and wear the high heels for guild meetings or something like that. Makes much more sense to be running around with those in the middle of combat or trekking cross-basin.

When I play furry races I ditch shoes entirely, considering they have animal-style feet like this.

I do, generally, go barefoot. This was right after my bard test, though wink.gif

But anyway, I say go with the 100% furry. Not everyone might agree with this, but those kinds of people are probably the ones who like to be furrikin that are just basically human children with fox ears and fox tails, which is completely ridiculous.

And considering the way your feet are drawn in that picture you drew, I don't see how you could fit into high heels at all.
Unknown2009-09-19 00:23:33
I furred her up a little. Maybe she's got some human in her to explain the facial features.

CODE
She is a bouncing furrikin and is tiny and raccoonlike, though she appears more
humanoid and her fur becomes much finer from the middle up. Her eyes are large
and pale pink, feathered with light eyelashes. She appears ghostly--almost
sickly white all over, save for dark circles around her eyes. A mess of white
hair has been gathered messily with ribbon and pins. Her features are pointed
and mischievous-looking, brightened by a dusting of peachy rouge. Her fur gets
coarser and scruffier down her legs, with heavier fringes on the sides of her
arms and face. She sports a long tail and large raccoon's ears. Her body is
quite thin, and she appears malnourished. She is wearing a tight black leather
vest, a sheer black tinted scarf, a light, white cotton skirt, a dashing black
silver-plumed hat, an eight-eyed ruby spider ring, a black studded belt, a snug

As for the heels, they're not high at all if you look at the description. And they're sandals, so they're meant to wrap around, not be fit into. Considering that sort of foot seems to be prominent in the world, maybe shoes are made to fit them? It would certainly help to have something to protect the pads on the bottoms of feet in harsh or extreme-temperature terrain, kind of like how you have to put shoes on sled dogs so their feet don't get cut. But dogs don't care about fashion as much as an intelligent race would.

That works a lot better and is more true to the racial type. So you just basically kept the humanoid top part, but added in white fur that covers it instead of skin - I can see this as working.

Though if you ask me the racial pics are not the 100% best to go by when looking at the more "bestial" races because the artist seems to love drawing gigantic breasts and humanoid faces. Seriously, look at the taurian. You can see the nipples poking through those thin tit-straps.

P.S. Trust me on this. Having a partially human bloodline is no excuse to make your character look like a human with fox ears and a fox tail or a trill with hair or whatever people do. It just makes their characters look completely ridiculous, detracts from the racial roleplay, and causes huge amounts of drama and pointless debates. While other people here may not have my level of wisdom and insight on sensitive topics such as this, I certainly do, having spent many years playing MUDs and roleplaying in general, and I can tell you that staying true to a race's appearance instead of playing Lego mix and match with humanoid features will make you a lot more friends (intelligent ones, anyway).

I'm not accusing you of anything, I'm just saying. Throwing in your own human features to a race just because you don't like it's appearance but like the stats disrespects the people that worked hard to design that race the way they were. It also disrespects the artists that took time meticulously drawing the pictures to show how the race appears. And furthermore, it disrespects the people who roleplay the race well. Not everyone has to be some freak mutant hybrid of races. If you want to look like a human, just be a human.

Stop being such a description nazi, If they have stuff like, You know he has laughed at the world for all their foolish mistakes and he'll pay them back, oh yes he will, That's fine. You can have almost anything and there are perfectly logical reasons for it. Such as, interbreeding, Something happened as you came through the portal of fate, magical cosmetics, I mean I can charge how I look at any point that I want to care to.
