I furred her up a little. Maybe she's got some human in her to explain the facial features.
As for the heels, they're not high at all if you look at the description. And they're sandals, so they're meant to wrap around, not be fit into. Considering that sort of foot seems to be prominent in the world, maybe shoes are made to fit them? It would certainly help to have something to protect the pads on the bottoms of feet in harsh or extreme-temperature terrain, kind of like how you have to put shoes on sled dogs so their feet don't get cut. But dogs don't care about fashion as much as an intelligent race would.

She is a bouncing furrikin and is tiny and raccoonlike, though she appears more
humanoid and her fur becomes much finer from the middle up. Her eyes are large
and pale pink, feathered with light eyelashes. She appears ghostly--almost
sickly white all over, save for dark circles around her eyes. A mess of white
hair has been gathered messily with ribbon and pins. Her features are pointed
and mischievous-looking, brightened by a dusting of peachy rouge. Her fur gets
coarser and scruffier down her legs, with heavier fringes on the sides of her
arms and face. She sports a long tail and large raccoon's ears. Her body is
quite thin, and she appears malnourished. She is wearing a tight black leather
vest, a sheer black tinted scarf, a light, white cotton skirt, a dashing black
silver-plumed hat, an eight-eyed ruby spider ring, a black studded belt, a snug
pair of ebony riding gloves, an astrological charm bracelet, a leather backpack,
a white silk blouse, a steel talon earring through her left ear, and a steel
talon earring through her right ear.

Your description looks to good to me, however the flow is a little broken. I would make suggestions on how to make it flow better but I'm kind of in stupid mode at the moment and am drawing a blank. However, it really doesn't have to flow well that's just me channeling my creative writing teacher. >.>
Honestly though, about whether or not you have skin/are human-like appearance isn't going to be ground breaking. If you want to RP your character as being a halfbreed or a furrikin with human ancestry that is your choice. I would just like to remind people of that. also, shoes are perfectly fine too. Though as a more animal like race, you're likely to have feet that are similar to those of a dog/cat/whatever race you decide to make yourself. So it can be considered a little silly to where them, but again your choice if you do wear them. Take all words of suggestion on the forums with a grain of salt.
All in all, a very nicely done description, in my honest opinion.

If I wanted to RP my character as being the king of the world and the most powerful mortal in the Basin of Life, it's my choice. Doesn't really make it any less silly.
RP has almost no limit, yes. But there is a limit on how far you can RP something before it becomes utterly ridiculous.

Vibeke, please don't start or allude to that argument again, it's just asking for trouble.
There's precedent for humans with ears and tails in real world myths. Though generally they're either demons, fae, or spirits of some sort particularily the Tanuki and Kitsune myths of Japan, from my understanding. Certainly not Furrikin, though. (This is not an invitation for a debate, argument, or war, just letting you know where the idea comes from)
I do have a question though. would it be too far out of line to include a pair of spectacles as part of the DESCRIBE SELF? I've been needing to spruce up Aerotan's description, and one of the RP points I try to weave in with his character is that his eyesight isn't what it used to be.

I think there are spectacles as items, but if you honestly can't find any I don't see the problem.

HELP SPECTACLES.
They exist!

Yes. My porcupine had spectacles and I never got any weird looks from people. Lendren has spectacles. His are magical and all, but I'm sure plain spectacles must exist if there are magic ones out there.
Edit: Wait! I don't mean yes. I mean no. It wouldn't be out of line.

Vibeke, don't you keep going on about how you've quit Lusternia? Couldn't you actually quit.

Unfortunately I can't get into a forum raging event against you Vibeke because that'll end up in my posts getting deleted. Which I've already had 2 done so and I'll keeping my self sort of "clean" if you will. While I do understand the fact that yea, there is a point when things get silly, I would also like to remind you that you are not the final say in the matter. Truthfully I really wish that Vira was doing descriptions again, though I think that player is no longer among the gods or they are too busy to do so. Also, the HELP files are not the final say either. They are guide lines. As the human help file says "they proved to be a most fertile people, able to interbreed with the other races," this means you will find yourself with human like aslarans, lobos, etc but also humans who have features similar to dracnari, or lucidan. Breeding in genereal usually produces an offspring that is a -mixture- of their parents. While a child can lean towards one parent in looks, there are usually similarities from both parents. Such similarities will be passed down through the lineage so that grandchildren and great-grandchildren will sometimes have features that are vaguely or maybe closely resemble the great/grandparent.
So honestly, just help clean up descriptions and help make them appropriate for Lusternia without shoving your opinion on what is and is not allowed inside of a description that is specific to that race. The game allows for flexibility. If you really are so gunho about them making their character a certain way then go in-game and get into an argument with that character about why there are that way. I'm sure several will fall back onto the "well I've got human in me" and not make it very interesting, but hey maybe you'll help flesh out their RP that way. Who knows? But please, stop being such an description nazi and thinking that you are the final say/more correct that the rest of the players who are posting here. Because you know what, you're not.

I did this. I stopped after I got disfavoured twice, insulted and assaulted by a guild leader, attacked by a guild champion, and executed. The reason? I said that a furrikin who looked like a human child but with fox ears/fox tails looked like a "shaved furrikin". Exact words I used, nothing more. Apparently people are so "gunho" about the fact that it's perfectly acceptable for people to make their descriptions look utterly and incomprehensibly idiotic that things like that will happen.
It's not really anything I can help though. It's human nature to be defiant, stupid, and obstinate when presented with an opinion that does not match their own, even if said opinion is logical, reasonable, and/or correct, which mine happens to be. I mean, even Achaea doesn't do things as stupid as mix-and-match racial features, and we all know how much RP goes on there.
Aerotan2009-09-19 01:22:54
How's this?
QUOTE
He is a bouncing furrikin and is covered in long, bluish white fur that he keeps well groomed. This tends to lend him a poofy appearence overall, though one can tell under it he's thin for one of his kind. The tips of his ears, muzzle, and tail, as well as the fur from his forearms to his fingertips, and the lower half of his calves and feet, instead are a light shade of black, just a tad too dark to be considered grey. Perched atop his nose is a pair of spectacles, supported by a pair of thin silver rods hooked over his pointed ears.

I like it, but try this instead of describing the body parts individually:
"The tips of his ears, muzzle and tail, as well as the lower portions of his limbs, instead are..."
Describing what type of animal he resembles might be a good idea, too.

Then you should take that as a sign that quite a few of the player base accepts such things. *shrug* You are the minority. It is unfortunate that your opinion was responded to with such a harsh punishment, since I'm sure there are others out there who have RP'd their characters with the elitist attitude. However, truthfully this -shouldn't- range outside of a character's opinion. If it is your, the player's, opinion fine but at the same time you need to realize that the rest of us are ok with it and that we aren't idiots because we accept it. While we have a difference of opinion, you should learn to agree to disagree. My opinion is no less correct/logical/reasonable than yours is. So let's settle this whole thing with a simple "I agree to disagree" and keep the calling everyone an idiot to a minimum please.
