6. Why did Adam disintegrate but Peter didn't? I hope there's some explanation for this.

Because Adam's power was keeping him alive for hundreds of years (since feudal Japan anyway) and without it, his cells reverted to their original age.... dust.

Body cells don't last the entire lifespan, they are being replaced over and over. Peter should actually die (after losing the power) from all the wounds he received and healed from, if that's how it works...

I don't see why. The cells weren't being held together by his powers. The healing power just caused them to close up like they would naturally, only really, really fast. With the power gone, if he got hurt now, he'd just heal at a normal rate of speed, but there's no reason old wounds already healed would reopen. Adam's cells though, were only being alive because of the power cause no one lives for centuries naturally.

In fact, this non-power time might be when Peter gets the cut across his face that leads to that scar Future Peter had. I always wondered why Future Peter had that big whopping face scar. Must mean he'll get his powers back somehow too.

Reopening wounds sounds kinda absurd of course, but this regenerative process seems just like the natural cell replacement process to me, so Adam shouldn't go ashy either.
But maybe it just works differently, like you are saying his body cells don't get replaced like in a normal person, but never die naturally. It's still a shaky theory, but it would explain why he disintegrated.

Going for science with this stuff will hurt, better leave it as a fairy tale it is.

Actually, they are struggling for that future never coming true, so... smile.gif
But yeah, I bet he'll get the scar and then his powers back.
I'm not sure how though, his father must have taken his power-absorbing ability too, cause otherwise Peter would just get all his powers back right away at the spot. Unless he will, just after the cliffhanger and receiving the scar. wink.gif But If he can't absorb anymore, how will he get abilities later?

There's still that formula. The one that works. Maybe Peter gets a shot of it and it reactivates his birth power... which I guess he inherited from his dad. His dad seems to have the ability to steal powers, and both Peter and Sylar have similar powers (Peter just needing to be around someone with a power to use it and Sylar needing to understand the power to use it).

Or maybe if the old man dies somehow, the powers he stole will revert to their original people. Assuming they're alive of course.

Who knows?
Diamondais2008-10-23 14:27:18
Well, Peter seemed to push away as quickly as he could and Arthur didn't seem much up for killing him in the first place. It may be that Arthur's power doesn't just drain the powers, but also energy from the body and its cells and he can control how much he wants to take.

Just a theory on my part anyways.
Unknown2008-10-23 18:41:20
Well, Peter was around Adam long enough to have adopted his immortality/regeneration power. So he was growing older, but not actually feeling the effects... when his powers were drained, all that aging hit him (however minor). It's the same reason Adam turned to dust, as he was hundreds of years old.

Also, one has to wonder why Peter never adopted Sylar's power by just being close to him.

And finally, KILL CLAIRE OFF ALREADY.

He prolly did have it. But that didn't mean he knew how to use it. And the thing with Sylar's power is that he has to understand a power to get it to work. That's why he has to peek inside folks' heads. Once Future Sylar explained to Peter how to use it, he could use it.

Surprised nobody's still talking about this show...
Shiri2009-03-12 01:42:34
...is it just me, or did the spoiler tags break while the thread was inactive?

As for the show, it's honestly just taken effort to watch it anymore. I'd probably only care if they completely rebooted it with new characters or something...
Diamondais2009-03-12 01:51:07
I keep missing it to various stupid, silly or annoying reasons so I generally catch up later and talk to it with my RL friends who watch it.

But this one really seems to be trying.

I stopped watching after the second season, though I did spy some episode with some dude able to control people with his hands. Puppetmaster?

Yeah the second season pretty much made people think the whole series went down the gutter. Stupid writers strike made the whole thing end early..and therefore some things never ended up making sense (ie Peter's girl friend ending up in the future and him never actually going back to save her)

I like the new season. The first episode was really creepy when Sylar went after Claire aka cheerleader. Sylar's character is sick, yes he's still killing people left and right, but he's more interesting than he once was. Last episode they had John Glover guest star as his father.

If you missed the second season it's no big deal, but the third season is great. At this point it might be best to buy the DVD, because it might not make as much sense coming in on the end of the season.

I'm really enjoying heroes, and as always, the comic books on the website are fun too.

This show became just wasted potential, it got confusing and I don't even know what it's supposed to be about nowadays. It feels like they're going in circles with the whole plot.
Sylar is like, the only interesting character there.

Someone said something about it that cracked me up yesterday: "It's like in 1984, where the girl in the porn industry says they just have the same 6 titles, change the names and republish it every year." They're doing that with character derailment, damnit! (the complete distractedness of season 3 failed to fulfill expectations either...they forgot what they were doing, only they don't have a writer's strike excuse this time.)

Huh? What character derailment? It sounds like you are watching a different show from me. I'm also not sure what you mean by recycling the story. They aren't try to save the world anymore, just themselves.
Desitrus2009-03-16 18:54:55
I liked S3. The commercials for s4 make me wonder about coathanger abortion options.
Daganev2009-03-16 19:34:37
What comercials are you talking about? (I watch the show on hulu, so I just get hulu commmericals)
Astraea2009-03-16 19:46:38
The Cheerleader (Who technically isn't, anymore, stop using the title!) really makes me want to kill myself. I find that character so, so, so, so terribly annoying and pretty useless. Elle (Sylar Fetish aside) deserved to live way more than stupid Claire. And at least Ali Larter's current character has some more spunk than her last cardboard cut-out. I try to enjoy the show still, I watch it every week, but honestly. Trying to go from watching Battlestar Galactica, to watching Heroes, really just makes my brain shudder with the effort. That being said, there are still a few things that make me forget I dislike about 50% of this show.
