Really? I usually have plenty since I'm waiting for rabbits and caterpillars. Dunno why I had to wait for rabbits when I cleared Kiakodan, Serenwilde, Faethorn, and Tolborolla of them, but I did.

Rabbits appear to not be breedable. And the guy can't be relied to count foxes and rabbits if his life depended on it. Hunt until there are 5 times as many rabbits as foxes and then tell him you're finished.

What confuses me is the aviary part, while we're on the subject of Kiakoda. I can't even figure out where to start, the guy there really doesn't like providing basic quest information.

It doesn't involve her that much, but there's a non-honours quest that has to do with her memory crystal and the sileni.
Events post 171.
Although you can watch the contents of that memory crystal at the Seren stage, if that's what you're interested in.

Yes and no. The Voice doesn't actually get involved in the quest personally, but its outcome sheds light on her history. I assume the quest still exists, but I suppose I haven't verified. The locations involved in it still exist.
