Is this a hack or *band or something altogether different?
The best (most time sucking) Roguelike is Stone Soup Dungeon Crawl. In continual development, the depth of this game is awesome.

You can download the asci version here. I am however partial to the Tiles
You will die a lot, so feel free to ask questions from the goon squad

I am deeply, deeply amused by Catullus 16. Clearly studying Latin has its own rewards. Any poet who manages to begin a poem with "I will and you, -sucker Aurelius and Furius" has my eternal respect.
This made me genuinely smile. God its been a while since I battled ablative absolutes or cringed over irregular third declension verbs. If you can actually read Latin poetry my sincerest congratulations.
My fondest memories of Latin was reading Caesar's reports about smashing those barbarian Gauls in Commentarii de Bello Gallico. I dug them up and reread them just before watching HBO's Rome.
My Rave: Hak 5 answering all my little questions! And a HBO Rome movie in development! Squee!

What, no way, the best roguelike is NetHack! I can't tell you how many hours I've sunk into NetHack, playing my lawful human priestess, kicking insane amounts of behind before dying in new and interesting ways, over and over and over and over...

Pfft. This is a major bone of contention in the 'community' about which is better. I'll just say I thoroughly enjoy the new Demonspawn mutations in Crawl 0.6 and Crawl OVERALL is just simply more balanced than nethack. Almost every time I have died in Crawl, with some thought I can figure out a way I could have increased my odds of surviving or that I should have simply done something differently.
With nethack most of the time I end up in randomized deathtraps. Nethack does have more interesting options though.

Two weeks! Two more freaking weeks and I get to be with him FINALLY! >< I'm about ready to tear my hair out, it sucks so hard being alone all the time and not having a car and having no one to snuggle. T_T Just two more weeks though and I get to be with my lovey!!
Also, I Hamasaki Ayumi. Nice to be able to listen to her lovely Japanese voice while I work instead of having to talk on the phone to customers.

I've always liked ADOM. It's not that great in the way of graphics, though.

I'm going to throw Dwarf Fortress into our Roguelike bonfire; the adventure mode got me through Spring and Winter breaks, and I barely touch fortress mode.

I've actually been playing a lot of Steamband recently. Before I know it, I've wasted an hour and I'll waste another as I tell myself, "just one more vault, just one more vault...". But yeah, steampunk + rl = win
Transcendence is pretty awesome too, thanks for showing it off, Felicia.

Yeah, I haven't fully gotten back into Transcendence yet, but it really is pretty darned cool. It's easily modded, too, and the grammar (during space station encounters and the like) is surprisingly immaculate. Well, perhaps not too surprising: The game's author, George Moromisato, apparently works for Microsoft as a programmer and is an amateur astronomer.

I've taken the first steps to learning Lua, and my progress has been much better than I had anticipated. In half an hour, I've picked up some basic programming jargon (of which I previously knew nothing), learned to create and populate simple tables, assign variables, experiment with arithmetic, concatenate strings, and practice it all in a ready-made, browser-based Lua executable... binary... thing. (I'm really not sure what to call that yet.)

This thing? Web-based emulator.

Yep, that's the one.
It won't store variables and such between clicks of the "Run" button (or at least, I don't know how to configure it to do so), but I'm just using it as Play-Doh while I learn, so that hasn't mattered (yet).

All moved in to my new apartment, right across the street from campus, and right next to a long bike trail. I even have food! Now if only I didn't have to piggyback off of a horribly unreliable unsecured wireless network in the area for a week until I can get my own internet installed...

A local band wants me to shoot their music video. Awesome!

Another round of applications to fill out for the exchange program, but on the up side, it means the old ones wont be used and my highschool transcript isn't necessary. Which would've been problematic at getting another copy considering the way the mail works up here.
Inch by inch I may just make it overseas. Also, boyfriend had an interview for a teaching job so he may be going with me.

Hopefully you get that internet up soon! Lucan misses his dad. :<

In an effort to rekindle my dormant (but perfectly serviceable) artistic talents, I've recently acquired some sketchbooks and graphic pencils and have been drawing various scenes found throughout my city. I require a table to do this properly, so café window seats, libraries, bookstores, and recreational areas with picnic tables come in handy.
I'm very pleased with my progress. If I can stick with it long enough to make it a habit, I'll reward myself with an entry-level computer graphics tablet.
