Was rather amusing when the audience erupted in applause when Dobby monologued Bellatrix. smile.gif

Is this a normal thing that happens there? I keep hearing complaints about people being noisy and shouting things in cinemas but I've never been to one in my life where everyone was anything other than really quiet.

I live in Australia, and I've never experienced an audience that does anything more than laugh at appropriate moments, and then only in really full cinemas.

I lived in Massachusetts for 10 months, though, and the short answer is: yes, they make a -lot- more noise in the cinema. I saw Star Trek in a sold-out cinema and there were at least five times throughout the movie that people broke out into spontaneous applause, to the point that I missed lines.

I got to watch Harry Potter 7: Part 1! I really, really, really fell in love with how they showed the Tale of the Three Brothers. Bliss.

To be fair, certain movies are likely to be subject to greater amounts of spontaneous noise than others. These movies include cult classics and long-awaited blockbusters especially popular among certain populations, like geeks.

Job interview on Wednesday! Assuming I get the damn thing, that's like perfect timing for Christmas shopping. Especially with the 50% discount I'd get...

Dyed my hair and it doesn't look horrible! biggrin.gif

But the first time one of my coworkers mentions I look like Shadow the Hedgehog now, this is going to turn into a rant really quick sad.gif

I am awesome! Well, at like, making the computer stop...making sounds.

So, the power supply was, well, dying...and making dying noises. (thank you clan for helping be figure out which part it was!)

So, we decide, screw it. Take money from my bank cd sad.gif, and buy a new power supply.

So, we go in, after taking the power supply out, writing down what it was, what the motherboard was, and what the video card was (to be safe). Guy says here, this one. I say okie. Come come. Glare at computer. Glare at power supply. Tell it to work.

Unplug old supply from everything, memorizing where everything was. Plug everything on new supply in veeeerrrry carefully. Glare at hard drive for being a difficult plug to put in, next the the motherboard (why motherboard, was your plug in two weird parts, that fit together? You are a weird plug). It fits!

Pray to computer gods.

Turn on.

Wheeeeeeee, I put stuff in the computer without killing myself, or the computer! I ish awesome, at least for now.

Mostly really popular movies on opening nights. Star Wars, Harry Potter, that kind of thing.

Movies those people are likely to go see again, in other words. The first time is kind of an excitement vent, the subsequent viewings are more sedate.

Indeed. I remember when I went to see the previous Harry Potter, it was the first week it was out and the showings were all obnoxious and loud. Went again later a few months later at a discount showing and it was rediculously sedate.

It can happen sometimes when you're with a smaller crowd. Like when we lived in Germany, our base had a really small theater (like only 100 people could fit into it). We went to see Austin Powers, the third one I think. Everyone it the theater cheered when the Brittney bot's head blew up. Honestly, that's the only time I've ever had something like that happen. Other times it is really quiet or a few punks are making noise.
